Product Description: From Keenan Ivory Wayans, the man who brought us Jim Carrey (initially just one of the bunch on Wayans's television comedy-sketch show, In Living Color), comes I'm Gonna Git You Sucka (1988), a comedy spoof on the blaxploitation films of the 1970s. Wayans plays Jack Spade, an army private just returning from the service. He comes home to find his younger brother June Bug dead of a overdose of gold chains (an "O.G.") He vows revenge, and with the help of some of the neighborhood's old school heroes including Flyguy (Antonio Fargas), Kung Fu Joe (Steve James), Hammer (Isaac Hayes), Slammer (football star Jim Brown), and John Slade (Bernie Casey), Spade wages a war against Mr. Big, the neighborhood crime lord. In the tradition of Airplane! and Naked Gun, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka pokes fun through satire and offensive comedy. The film also features some of the players that would end up on In Living Color and has appearances from such varied actors as Clarence Williams III, Eve Plumb (better known to most as Jan Brady), and Chris Rock as a rib-joint customer. --Shannon Gee

Just an old classic
I purchased this DVD because my friends and I used to watch this tons of times when we were younger. So it is kind of an old classic for us. I wanted it in DVD format. It is a movie we still quote and laugh about even now that we are older.

This is Parody at its peak
In 1988, two films reinvented the parody that Blazing Saddles and Airplane perfected. The Naked Gun was an inspired lunatic of a movie based on an insanely hysterical TV show. Then there was this filmed account that took several of the stars to those great '70's blaxploitation films and allowed them to poke fun of themselves. Sucka begins by taking us to Anytown, USA and showing right away what happens when one wears too many gold chains. This unfortunate soul was the brother of returning 'soldier boy' Jack Spade, who vows to bring down the gold chain industry run by the infamous Mr. Big. With the help of legendary hero John Slade and his former partners Hammer, Slammer, super pimp Fly Guy and the martial arts master Kung Fu Joe, Jack wages war against Big and his lackies.
This could easily be the plot of a typical '70's grindhouse movie and writer/director/star Keenan Ivory Wayans is fully aware of this. He treats this comical homage with restpect and great care. There are visual gags aplenty on top of countless quips and double entendres, but the film never thumbs its nose at those great actioners it is parodying. This is blaxpoitation in a form that can be viewed and enjoyed by anyone who does not allow a few crass jokes to interfere with a good sense of humor. There's also plenty of action and even a tender, but thankfully brief, romantic interlude between Jack and his brother's widow.
Inspired casting makes this film's success complete. Bernie Casey, Jim Brown, Isaac Hayes and John Vernon are the old hands who know this genre so well. Damon Wayans is on hand to supply some wonderful comic bits. This movie just plain succeeds. Not for children, to be sure. But for the adult who likes their humor a bit juvenile, this is most highly recommended.

YOU SHOULD GET THIS SUCKA
I bought this as a give for my boyfriend who is a big movie buff. It's classic, he loved it. I think this is one of Chris Rock's first movie appearances, "can I get 1...1 rib." Lol

One of my favorite movies
I still remember the first time I saw this movie... I thought I was going to bust a gut I laughed so hard! There are a lot of talented actors in this film who were just getting started when this film came out (the Wayans brothers leap to mind), not to mention some veteran actors from the sixties and seventies. Anyone who sees this film always remember some scene clearer than the rest and the case my wife (whom I met years later) it was the scene where "Cherry" made her confession... and the famous line "Don't make me hop after you!"
I give this my highest rating!
