Product Description: To say there has been a lot of anticipation for Coldplay's fourth album, Viva La Vida, is an understatement. Having enlisted legendary leftfield producer Brian Eno, borrowed their album title from a painting by renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and made tantalising remarks about sonic reinvention, the world has been curious (to say the least) to hear what the `new' Coldplay might sound like. Viva La Vida definitely makes some departures from the band's usual formula, which happens to be one of the most commercially successful rock-pop blueprints of recent years. The plangent chords, emotive melodies, stadium-rock rhythms and universal lyrical concerns remain, but Martin and co. have gone out on several limbs here, incorporating instrumental tracks ("Life In Technicolour"), using subtle North African and Latin elements ("Yes", "Strawberry Swing"), and overhauling previously strict verse-chorus-verse structures in favour of slightly more avant arrangements. The old Coldplay still shine through (see tracks like "Violet Hill" and the title song) but even their classic sound feels more muscular and confident. The band's new flourishes, cosmetic and self-conscious as they may be, are enough to make Viva La Vida a welcome break from the old routine --Danny McKenna People en Español Cuando Coldplay anunció con bombo y platillo que su cuarto disco, bajo el ambicioso título de Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, vendría acompañado de la producción de Brian Eno, dos escenarios se convertían en posibilidad: o se trataba de su peor álbum o la obra maestra de su carrera. --Ernesto Sánchez (People en Español )

Biggest Disappointment Of The Year So Far
I love Coldplay's first three albums and have listened to them many times, so I was stoked for the release of VIva La Vida. I bought it the day it came out and I've tried to like it I really have, but I can't get into it. Chris Martin was starting to get weird on the X&Y tour with his crazy hair and what not but now I know that he has gone completely of the deep end by releasing this piece of garbage.

Highly recommended (alt, pop, whatever) ROCK CD
I am a Cold Play fan... I think I own all the US released disks; not including imports.
Their musical style is a blend of The Police/Sting & U2... two other groups I appreciate.
I like all the tracks on Viva La Vida.
There are 9 songs with an average run time close to 4 min & 20 sec.
Most tracks are mid to up tempo.
But with a total play time under 40 min, the disc seems to fly by and I'm always left wanting more.
That's part complaint & part warning, but at the same time, the high quality makes up for low quantity.
If the teaser tracks appeal to you, buy this disk with confidence.
Cheers!

A Beutifull work of art
I LOVE this record. There's not one track thats not perfect. The way the music wraps around the next song,or the way the music changes into something you don't expect, reminds me alot of the Beatles "Abby Road."
I haven't enjoyed a CD like this in YEARS.Its my first ColdPlay one,and I'm going to get the rest of there albums after listening to "Viva La Vida."

Waste of money!!! I was shocked!
I didn't actually buy this album for myself, despite being an average Coldplay fan for a number of years. I thought their first couple of albums had some good tracks here and there. I bought this album for my girlfriend's daughter as she really loved the song Vida La Vida. I burned myself a copy and listened to it on the way home, WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP!!! Not one song grabbed my attention, even the overhyped and overplayed main track blows! I wound up throwing the burned CD right in the trash when I got home, completely sucks in my opinion! Radiohead's new release is about 100 times better than this crap!
