Avg Customer Rating:
Product Description: There seems to be no one more qualified or equipped to ponder or even, dare I say, dictate 'quality, taste, and style' than Tim." -Sarah Jessica Parker, actor/producer
Television has introduced the world to a new fashion authority: Tim Gunn. As Bravo's style mentor and Chair of the Fashion Design Department at Parsons The New School for Design, Tim delivers advice in a frank, witty, and authoritative manner that delights audiences.
Now readers can benefit from Tim's considerable fashion wisdom in Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style. He discusses every aspect of creating and maintaining your personal style: how to dress for various occasions, how to shop (from designer to chain to vintage stores), how to pick a fashion mentor, how to improve your posture, find the perfect fit, and more. He'll challenge every reader-whether a seasoned fashionista or a style neophyte-to "make it work!"

Really like Tim Gunn, but book is too basic
The book just left me flat. No great suggestions, nothing new. It was a quick and easy read however a bit boring. I enjoy Tim Gunn so much in other forums that I probably would by the next book in hopes it was better.

A great style book!
I love Tim Gunn, especially on the Project Runway. His book is easy to read, full of fashion and style tips and information. Recommended to every fashionista.

He Makes It Work
I love Tim Gunn. I can not believe that it has taken me this long to pick up this book.
What I like about Tim is that he doesn't tell you style to have but he does give guidelines for good taste. There's info on how to spot quality garments and how to take care of them. His list of Things Every Woman Must Have (which is not how he calls it but I don't have the book handy for reference) is great. If you've ever seen his TV show (Tim Gunn's Guide to Style) then you'll know the gist of this book.

Met Tim...
I was lucky enought to attend a party hosted by Tim Gunn and Nathaniel Hawkins at the Tribeca Grand on March 5th. My sister won this by responding to a TRESemme on-line ad. Oh my goodness, what a night and what true hosts Tim and Nathaniel were. Not only were we treated liked guests, more important we felt "like royalty". Hats off to these people who hosted a party that made "all" feel welcome. Here is to all those who made my and my sister's journey to New York and to SOHO and to PROJECT RUNWAY so special. I love my pictures and I look at my scrapbook with wonderful memories. Tim is all he appears and more...

Stodgy, fairly useless
This book could've been written by your high-class but out-of-touch grandmother living in a penthouse in New York. The sections on self-presentation were moderately helpful but vague (sit up straight! good skin is good!), but when it came to actual fashion tips, there were none. Kendall Farr's The Pocket Stylist, while somewhat flawed, is far more informative.
