Success
I'd have to say that this product is a hit. Before I went to my BMW for the first oil change, I performed a test on several gallons of water out of my ice chest. The extractor did everything it was supposed to do during the test. I immediately went to the car and pumped all the oil out in minutes. I only got my hands slightly dirty while changing the oil filter. What's even better is that after I filled the engine with the new oil I was able to pour the old oil into the same containers. This makes it very easy to travel for proper disposal. I can't wait until the next oil change. If you use this product, make sure you run the engine for a few minutes before starting so the oil will flow easier (in other words, read the directions).

Easy to do an oil change, tough to clean out
I purchased the Mityvac 7201, last month, to do my own oil changes (believe it or not, my local dealer wanted $299 for what was basically a oil and filter change). My car has an 8 qt. capacity so I needed a good sized evacuator. The 7201 fit that bill. I extracted every bit of the 7.9 qts. that the computer on my car claimed was in the pan. I did the entire extraction without spilling one drop on my carpeted garage floor or my hands. It was easy, fairly quick, easy, clean and easy. Did I mention easy?
The next day, I drove to the local Pep Boys to recycle the oil. The techs there were amazed at the device. I would have thought they had seen one before. I simply removed the plug from the top of the evacuator and tipped it up to drain. The problem is this: it takes days for the oil to settle down the sides of the plastic resevour so, getting the unit clean is not going to happen without making the mess you hoped to avoid in the first place. Oh well, I now plan on only using this for pumping oil out of the engine now. I does has the capacity to pump fluid into something but I would have oil mixed in anything I did now.
Great product though. Saved me a bunch of money with just one oil/filter service. Long term savings will be huge.

Solid Unit - Hey, if its good enough for Mercedes...
The unit is built to last. The documentation is acceptable, but I took a star off for it. Other reviews cover the gaps, though, so I won't repeat those- if you get stuck, just look through comments to date. In my case I had the hose pushed too far down and I couldn't get the oil to flow. Once I lifted it half and inch, though, I cleared the oil in less than 5 minutes. Very reasonable. The unit seals up well for transport to the local oil recycler, and I'm happy I made the purchase. Due to the poor documentation, I haven't rushed to try the unit for bleeding brakes, etc. To the manufacturer: a picture is worth a thousand words. But if you can't get pictures, than DO THE THOUSAND WORDS. A leaflet doesn't cut it.

Pump It Don't Dump It
First jack or lift my car; then slide underneath my car followed by the good part...pulling the oil plug. After wiping the oil off my body....you know this story. The Mityvac is the best. Run your car till it reaches normal operating temperature; turn off your engine and remove the oil dipstick; insert the Mityvac evacuation tube in place of the oil dipstick;Pump the Mityvac 15 times (the instructions say 10) to build a vacume preasure and walk away for 10 to 15 minutes. Though I bought this a month ago I used it this weekend to do my first 2 oil changes. When you return the oil is neatly drawn into the Mityvac and you can now put the clean oil in your car. It's that simple. I used the Mityvac to then pump the dirty oil into the empty oil containers. My next 2 oil changes will pay for this device. Great device, very sturdy.

Bad out of the box: MityVac 07201
Mityvac 7201 Fluid Evacuator Plus
The MityVac 07201 sold by Amazon was not functioning from the start. I have heard other reviews where this happened. The pump creates no vacuum at all. If you have this problem too, check the following. While pumping with the hose plugged, listen around the top lid for a wheezing sound. If so, then it is possible that the top lid is missing the top rubber seal (P/N 822821) like mine was. It looks like a reasonably designed product for the price, but c'mon... they gotta have all the parts to start with to make a go of it! I will be ordering another one from Amazon again. I will keep everyone posted on the next one I get.
