Customer Reviews
Nice product but mislead re: vehicle versatility
I was very disappointed when I opened the box and took out the manual which said that the rack was not recommended for my type of car. In the Amazon description, it said it fit most cars, when in fact it wasn't recommended for my husband's car or my neighbor's car either. The return process was relatively seamless except for the inconvenience. I think there should have been a way to check the manual first to make sure that it is recommended for your car. The manual could have been scanned for shoppers to view. It would have saved a lot of time and hassle.

Not exactly confidence inspiring
purchased for a 2 week vacation - for 2 bikes - to be driven over 1500 miles. managed about 2 miles. wasnt convinced that the thing would stay on. bikes were rocking like crazy - checked the fitting several times. gave up and got one that attaches to a tow hitch. difference was night and day. perhaps on a different shape car (we have an SUV) or with a lot more time and patience it would have been ok ... but if unsure, spend the money and get a tow hitch one.

THULE 2 BIKE TRUNK RACK
CARRIED 2 BIKES FROM VIRGINIA TO MICHIGAN AND BACK - OVER 1400 MILES. INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS WERE GOOD. MY 11 YEAR OLD GRANDSON HELPED ME INSTALL ON SIENNA VAN - NOT DIFFICULT AT ALL. BIKES STAYED PUT DURING TRIP.

Good bike rack
I purchased this rack based on Thule's reputation and other reviews stating that it's a decent bike rack- I did not make the wrong decision with this model. This bike back holds two mountain bikes without any problems and is very sturdy if tied down properly.

Nice Rack
I've used this bike rack for over 10,000 miles across the U.S., on two sedans and one SUV. It's always been secure and rock solid (tried only one bike) at every speed I've driven, ranging from highways to gravel roads in all weather. It is an effective bike carrier and I do recommend it. There are some minor pitfalls though.
The mounting is tricky, with any car. It took me 40 minutes the first time, now I can do it in 15, ensuring everything's good. The documentation isn't terribly clear either because the actual mounting is a nonlinear process. You'll need to factor the rack mounting into your "getting ready" time. Tying up excess length on the straps is troublesome; you'll probably be rolling them up and taping them together. So you'll need tape with this rack. Last, its two screwknobs are easily lost and the product could have well been designed with a better mechanism for adjusting the rack to fit other cars. These are minor though, and the rack does carry a bike quite well.
Things to note about trunk racks in general:
They're easy theft targets; at the end of the day, the canvas straps can be cut and the whole assembly stolen. This is acceptable for driving and stopping along an interstate, but not for sitting in the Ikea lot all day. Mounting the rack also renders the trunk inaccessible, entailing some foresight when loading the car for a multi-stop trip.
