SWEEEET flashlight
I just got one of these babies for Christmas (2007). Taking it into a dark room and switching it on for the first time, with the included AAA batteries (3), my expectations were ho-hum brightness. Imagine my suprise--I was freaking astonished at the intensity of the beam that this beast generated. With my jaw still on the floor, I went and got my 3 D-cell, 3-watt LED Mag-lite flashlight (with the actual Mag-Lite LED--not some POS aftermarket LED.) Upon returning to the same darkened room again to compare the two, I was floored once again to see that the little Coast light, all 4 1/8" of it, IS ACTUALLY BRIGHTER THAN THE 3-WATT LED MAG LITE, which is absolutely MONSTEROUS in size by comparison. I'm talking almost THIRTEEN inches long and TWICE the diameter, with fresh batteries too. The little Coast light makes a clearly superior long-range spotlight as well. Amazing. Granted, the little Coast, with 3 AAA batteries may not run as long or stay super-bright as long as the 3 D-cell Mag Lite. But which one are you going to want to carry around all day--the pocket-size Coast or a 13 inch clunker? If you're looking for a compact, bright (and brother, I am not fooling around when I say "bright") LED flashlight, you can not go wrong with the Coast 7730! For about 40 bucks, I say it's a steal. I have a bunch of other LED flahslights, including three other Coast LED flashlights, and while they're all bright, high quality lights, none of them are nearly as bright as this stainless-steel gem.
