This seems to be a great product. It works well and seems to be well built. Several people have made comments about how clean our pool looks. We put our granddaughter in the pool and the water doesn't burn her skin or her eyes. If the chlorine level gets too high, just take the lid off the pool for a couple of days and it will drop right back down.

Works great, follow instructions exactly
This has been my first summer with the Intex pool and saltwater system. I have the 15' x36" Intex pool and used 65lbs of salt. So far it has been great. I have not needed to add anything else to the water. Although due to high iron content I used a white gym sock on the strainer basket to filter out the iron. That worked well too. It took about 3 days to get the water super clear with the sock and it has stayed clear ever since. If you are thinking about this system you should give it a try.

helpful hints that should be in the manual
This is my second year with this saltwater chlorinator. I had a difficult time last year with this and have found 2 things that have helped. Tip #1 - After adding the salt let the filter run for about 8 - 9 hours (or overnight), then get in the pool and agitate the water around (get a few kids in the pool to play around for a little bit). I found that even if waiting for the filter to run for 24 hours - the salt sinks to the bottom of the pool and doesn't get fully spread out in the water. After you "agitate" the water, then let the filter run for the rest of the 24 hours. You shouldn't get the "low salt" error then. Tip #2 - You may need to run the chlorinator for longer then the time noted in the instruction manual the first time. This year I ran it first for about 12 hours (I do use well water with no chlorine - so your time might vary). I kept running the chlorinator for 4- 5 hours and re-checking the chlorine level. Once I had it at the right level, then I used the recommended time in the manual. No green water this year like last year. The whole family loves the pool and no more headaches for me!!

FINALLY - clear, clean pool water
I bought an above ground Intex pool last summer and spent half the summer trying to keep the pool clear and swimmable - the pool stayed the remainder of last summer in a box in the shed. I could never get the chemistry right no matter how many trips to the pool store.

This year, with my "economic stimulas" check, I purchased a larger Intex pump and this chlorinator. Finally, the pool is clean and clear - sparkling clear in fact. Swimming in it is a joy!!! Had my nephew and neice visit me for a week and we swam in it everyday - all day - no problems!!! I can even (gasp) go away for a few days and the pool is fine when I return. I HIGHLY recommend this self chlorinator for your pool.
