Product Description: In the brief flower of his teen idolhood, C. Thomas Howell starred in this unexpectedly mature teen comedy. High school loser Michael (Howell) receives an unsigned love note and hopes it's from the queen of the social scene, Debbie (Kelly Preston). When Debbie brushes him off, his best friend Toni (Lori Loughlin) convinces him to send her an anonymous note of his own--only Toni, who's so in love with Michael that she wants him to be happy, rewrites his clumsy fumblings into romantic prose, and Debbie swoons. Meanwhile, the first note has fallen into other hands, setting off misguided passion among the kids' parents. Secret Admirer could have been familiar fluff, but the plot keeps taking unexpected turns, tweaking the clichés of the teen genre with a dose of reality. The characters reveal surprising sides, resulting in a unusually rich story that earns its happy ending. --Bret Fetzer

5 stars Pleasantly Suprised
I caught this movie on late night TV last night and was pleasantly surprised at how hilarious it is! Lot of good actors and a very funny storyline. Some parts made me laugh out loud hysterically (especially the part where C Thomas Howell yells at the mailman). So glad I watched this, I will definitely add this to my collection.

5 stars a blast from the past- a funny movie
i forgot how silly and funny this movie was, if you are in the mood to see the movies from the 80s you must see this one and you'll forget how silly these movies were, and who could have remembered that kelly preston was in this movie, i completely forgot, she had done other films also during the 80s but this one was her best during this period, you really think she is that superficial. a great buy.

4 stars Secret Admirer
Have you ever been the guy who didn't fit in and had always fantasized about one of the most beautiful, gorgous, sexy in-crowd chicks ( especially blonde) , with an hour glass figure that features a medium-large bust, small-medium waist, small-medium hips, long legs, good firm muscle tone, full lips, small nose, wide set eyes who didn't need braces and/or glasses as your girlfriend who loved you for you and was a nice to you and nice in general but turned out to be a living nightmare from hell on earth!?
Well that's what happened to Michael.
He has always had these fantasies of Debbie but Debbie thought he was pathetic. Michael did have a nice bestfriend who happened to be the girl next door that lived a few houses away, she wasn't ugly, she's quite gorgous but completely opposite in looks,( brunette, trim figure and dresses like either a punk wave rocker or 1950s high school girl ) and is geniunely sweet, nice and perfect for any guy to be around. Her name was Toni. She was in love with Micheal, however he didn`t see it because he was blinded by Debbie.
Michael was superfical. He valued the wrong things.
His dream was to lose his virgintiy to the most popular girl in school but as soon she finally wanted to give him her birthday suit as his birthday present he didn`t want it anymore.
Her ego was crushed because any guy wouldv`e been on cloud 9 to have had his opportunity to be with her.
Michael finds out what the true meaning of life is, who he should have as friends, how he should really be, how men should treat women, what real beauty is, that being beautiful happens by being beautiful on the inside by excelling through school academically, accomplishing goals that require the usage of a brain that also increases i.q. level, having personal interests that fulfill your life and will be your successful career path in life, being successful and then working on your outer beauty, your image. Plus he finally became tough, by beating up a bully who wanted to beat him up for no reason. He and Toni end up together.
I wish they had made a part 2 of this gem.

5 stars This movie might be old school, but still good!

I watched this movie when I was like 13 and I loved it, so now that I'm 25 I had to buy it. I saw it again and I enjoyed it even more than in the past. Highly recommended.
