5 stars EASY TO SET UP
NO PROBLEM W/ SETTING UP AS A RANGE EXTENDER...ONLY TOOK ME 5 MINS...INCREASES RANGE AND SPEED...DID NOT RUN THE CD... AND WORKS WELL W/ VISTA AND XP...I AM USING IT ONLY AS A RANGE EXTENDER AND QUICK AND EASY TO SET UP...BTW...IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE RESET IF YOU HAVE POWER FAILURE...ALSO INCREASED MY COVERAGE FOR MY ENTIRE HOUSE... 3 FLOORS, 5600 SF...THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND YARD HAS WIRELESS NOW!

1 stars Colossal Piece of Crap!
Believe what you read, it's a piece of crap. I've connected it, I've changed the IP, I've even gone into it and changed all the settings. Nothing works. I knew things were bad when the "push the button to automatically connect" routine failed miserably. I called tech support and they were just as bad as this product.

1 stars Did not work for me
I wasted several hours with this device until I finally gave up. The technical support was polite and seemed knowledgeable, but could not help me. I ended up returning this device and bought a high powered USB receiver instead. This solved my problem for about the same price.

4 stars Works pretty well
Had a tough time finding the signal at first. I didn't set it all that far away from the router, but once I found a good spot, I had about a fifty foot extended range. Again not as far as I would have liked, but it gets me halfway across the house and that's OK. I had no problems with this extender and Vista. I did not try to use it as a router. For a less expensive repeater and a short signal extension I will recommend this, but if you're looking for a long distant repeater you may want to try another unit.

4 stars How to set up Extender as Ethernet bridge
The product works fine as an Extender. I am using it with my WRT54gs Linksys AP (flashed with sveasoft firmware), with WPA security. As mentioned by other members disregard the instructions from Belkin; use the ones from reviewer Chovy instead.

Several reviewers discussed using the Extender as an Ethernet bridge. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to do it. Here are the instructions:

- Follow the instructions to set up the Extender as a Repeater

- Make sure your PC is still connected to the Extender using the enclosed cable

- Set up your TCP/IP as such:

IP:

Sub: 255.255.255.0

Gateway:

DNS: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 (I am using OpenDNS as my DNS)

That's it. I tested the connection speed, comparing my laptop's built-in WiFi versus the Belkin brige. No difference at all.

One caveat: I am pretty sure the enclosed cat5 cable is a crossover cable. The Extender may not work with a longer cable. If you need to place the Extender some distance from the PC I suggest connecting it to a hub / switch.
