Product Description: How does Spider-Man 3 follow on the heels of its predecessor, which was widely considered the best superhero movie ever? For starters, you pick up the loose threads from that movie, then add some key elements of the Spidey comic-book mythos (including fan-favorite villain Venom), the black costume, and the characters of Gwen Stacy and her police-captain father. In the beginning, things have never looked better for Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire): He's doing well in school; his alter ego, Spider-Man, is loved and respected around New York City. And his girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), has just taken a starring role in a Broadway musical. But nothing good can last for Spidey. Mary Jane's career quickly goes downhill; she's bothered by Peter's attractive new classmate, Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard); and the new Daily Bugle photographer, Eddie Brock (Topher Grace), is trying to steal his thunder. Enter a new villain, the Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), who can transform his body into various forms and shapes of sand and who may be connected to Peter's past in an unexpected way. There's also the son of an old villain, Harry Osborne (James Franco), who unmasked Spidey in the previous movie and still has revenge on his mind. And a new black costume seems to boost Spidey's powers, but transforms mild-mannered Peter into a mean and obnoxious boor (Maguire has some fun here). If that sounds like a lot to pack into one 140-minute movie, it is. While director Sam Raimi keeps things flowing, assisted on the screenplay by his brother Ivan and Alvin Sargent, there's a little too much going on, and it's inevitable that one of the villains (there are three or four, depending on how you count) gets significantly short-changed. Still, the cast is excellent, the effects are fantastic, and the action is fast and furious. Even if Spider-Man 3 isn't the match of Spider-Man 2, it's a worthy addition to the megamillion-dollar franchise. --David Horiuchi More Spiderman on DVD

I liked it just fine.
This movie was the best of the series (not as good as two, but better than one). Spider-Man finally gets the girl, thinks about marriage and seems overall happier. He and Mary J. get in a fight because she accuses Peter of being insensitive to her Broadway performance critique. The action was really good and I disagree when I hear people say that three enemies was too much. Finally, the last few scenes rocked! They were very emotive and if you're sensitive, prepare for some tears.
4.1 stars.

Fun Summer action flick
One of the better hits of Summer 2007. I figured that since it cost more than $250 million to make and market Spiderman 3, it was a bargain to see it for only $9.
Since I had already heard a lot of semi-negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. It's always best to go into a movie with fairly low expectations - since those are fairly easy to meet and exceed.
Spiderman 3 has plenty of action, romance, drama (someone is always crying) and criminals. I thought the story line was actually quite good for an action film, and besides some scenes which seemed wholly unnecessary, it was a pretty good show, though it does run a little bit long. Hopefully you will enjoy it.

Made for the Money; No Comprehendible Story Here
This movie answers the question, what do we do with SM after we run out of ideas for a story line. Here we have a super hero who in prior movies was strong enough to stop a speeding train and now is flummoxed by some dude on a flying skateboard. Come on! This movie is totally inconsistent with prior movies when it comes to SM's super powers. He has somehow come down several notches in power for this movie.
The other villains are equally dumb and uninteresting. I found myself cheering for the "dark" Spider Man because at least that character had some character. As to basic plot and story, there isn't any. Just a series of scenes fighting different villains and a hopelessly convoluted sub-plot regarding the girl friend.
Only a Spider Man fanatic would consider giving this movie more than two stars and/or consider watching it more than one time. Don't waste your time or money.

Not Much To Get Excited About
It seems like Peter Parker has taken a step back in personality and maturity than he finally arrived at in Spidy 1. There's just so many screwball ideas in this Spidy that the movie would go between mega CGI action to a near stop with a couple sappy soap like back stories. I wount point out all the disappointments, but there is a couple worth mentioning.
The alter ego Peter Parker was several degrees below being the nerd he usuall plays. He was a down right creep show strutting and dancing down the street, but the real gem is when they had women look at him like he was a cool stud when doing that.....Ya right.
Another beef of mine is that if you're going to make a movie after a comic book, then at least keep the powers somewhat comparable. I haven't read a Spiderman for quite a while, but I don't remember him having a super strong body that can drop several stories and not be effected. Or take a sever beating by a super bad guy and not end up looking like road kill....He's Spiderman....Not Superman....
