Product Description: Like the USA Network's Monk, Psych combines crime-solving with comedy. Shawn Spencer (writer/actor James Roday, Miss Match) and Burton "Gus" Guster (The West Wing's Dulé Hill) have been friends since the 1980s. Aside from their divergent styles--walking encyclopedia Gus plays straight man to Shawn's hyper-observant goofball--the former passes himself off as a psychic. Together, they work with the Santa Barbara Police Department, represented by Chief Karen Vick (Kirsten Nelson) and detectives Juliet "Jules" O'Hara (Maggie Lawson) and Carl "Lassie" Lassiter (Timothy Omundson), their tightly-wound nemesis. The second season allows the duo to dig deeper into their pop-culture past. As before, every episode begins with a childhood incident that anticipates the case to come, most involving Shawn's dad, Henry (L.A. Law's Corbin Bernsen), a hard-nosed ex-cop. "American Duos," for instance, spoofs American Idol with Tim Curry as a snide judge and Gina Gershon as his spaced-out colleague, while "65 Million Years Off" recalls Jurassic Park when a paleontologist turns up dead. Other guests include Kerry Washington as a figure from Gus's past ("There's Something About Mira") and Phylicia Rashad and Ernie Hudson as Gus's parents, from whom he inherited his superior sense of smell ("Gus' Dad May Have Killed an Old Guy"). Though it takes a few episodes to find its footing, Psych's second year surpasses the first, and abundant extras make this four-disc set essential viewing. They include digressive commentary on 13 episodes (with Roday, Hill, and creator Steve Franks, who also performs the catchy theme song), deleted scenes, a gag reel, animated promos (The Big Adventures of Little Shawn and Gus), and a handy guide to the pineapple references in every show. Clearly, the makers of Psych love their work, and their enthusiasm is infectious. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

I was Psyched for Psych!
I was waiting to receive this season and was not disappointed! Besides the exciting shows, I really enjoyed the special features!

One of the best shows on television - Ever!
This show is very good. We can't wait until a new episode is downloaded from Amazon Unbox. We watch this show together and are always please with the humor, the irony, and the pure entertainment. I wish this show will move to a non-cable network.

Great product, great series!
From it's package, you really want to buy this. I like the hard cover, and the way the Discs are set up. Also, the series itself are awesome. Besides that, all the discs have bonus features, which make it more entertaining.

The Greatest Show in the History of Basic Cable!
I love Psych with a burning passion that only an '80's-grooving-pineapple-loving-silly-moniker-spewing-psychic-detective-wanna-be could. James Roday and Dule Hill's chemistry is superb! The writers all deserve a trophy case full of awards... hey, does anyone have a spare Emmy or Golden Globe sitting around they could donate? You know you didn't deserve it, but these guys do! I must admit that to my shock and horror, I came to find out that many of my friends had never heard of Psych. [Gasp!!] So I quietly slipped them the first season one-by-one, and now we are all addicted. It's like a Pert commercial come to life! Keep up the good work because I need my Friday night fix!!

Takes me back and entertains the whole family
Psych is one of the best shows on cable TV. I rarely TIVO a show but this one my family watches over and over. We quote Psych lines all the time. I love the obscure 80's references since that was my decade. Found out James (Shaun) and I grew up in the same city and our high schools played against each other. I began watchign the show because I was a Dule Hill fan but now I watch it for their (Shawn and Gus)banter. The writers are awesome! Mostly clean for the whole family. Occasional mild swear word or innuendo goes over my kid's heads. Scary Sherry by far my favorite episode from season 1. Season 2 best episode is American Duos! Must see! I have never purchased a TV show but had to own Psych on DVD!
