Product Description: Katherine Heigl is delightful as Jane, a self-effacing Gal Friday so addicted to organizing weddings in her off time, that 27 Dresses opens with her character juggling two nuptials on the same night. A perpetual bridesmaid, Jane's hobby is discovered by a matrimony reporter named Kevin (James Marsden), who hides a romantic side behind his wall of cynicism. While Kevin gradually develops feelings for Jane, the latter's superficial sister, Tess (Malin Akerman), pursues George (Edward Burns), Jane's boss and the object of her love. This romantic circle could go on forever, except that Jane is unexpectedly moved by Kevin despite her general irritation with him and without knowing that he's on the verge of sandbagging her with a ridiculing article in his newspaper. The situation is absurd, but the emotions are not. Heigl is very good, rooted in a long tradition of comely comediennes playing characters who fly under the radar of life. She makes Jane's pain palpable and conveys her character's inability to say no without making her look unappealing or weak. Marsden perfectly captures the part of a rumpled, underdressed writer with repressed passions, Akerman is as convincingly shrewish here as she was in The Heartbreak Kid, and Burns is fine as one of those guys so busy saving the world he barely pays attention to the people in his life. The script by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada) is fun if predictable, and Anne Fletcher's direction is vibrant. --Tom Keogh

5 stars 27 Dresses (DVD)
VERY cute movie !!!
Great acting, superb costuming, cute twists and turns...
Highly Recommended.....

5 stars Too MUCH in life is UNPREDICTABLE. I LOVED IT!
I AM a husband and father, and I could care less if a movie is "predictable" or not. Too many wanna be critics here adopt the typical critics skepticism and puffed up attitudes when they rate a movie or a book. 27 Dresses made some great memories and bonding moments between my wife and I, and our 15 year old daughter who is racing all too fast towards womanhood, relationships and leaving the nest. Moments like what 27 Dresses brought to our home are way too rare. It was daughter Erin who told us about it, and predictable as it was, we love it each time we watch it!!

3 stars Always a bridesmaid... retold... again
Bottom line is that this is nothing but another feel-good Cinderella movie. It's predictable. It's got stereotypical characters and overused plot points. It's nothing new and exciting. But it's not the worst example of the genre, either. I actually liked the main character - she, at least, wasn't completely mopey and unhappy. She had a good outlook and attitude towards her bridesmaid-ness. The main guys were appropriately eye-candy-ish. The best friend was (of course) spunky and sweet. So, yeah, it was the same as dozens of very similar movies. And if that's what floats your boat, this is a perfect movie to add to your collection.

If you're looking for anything ground-breaking and amazing, this is not it. If you're looking for an 'awwww, how sweet' romance, this will fit the bill. Not highly recommended, but I wouldn't stop a friend from buying it by performing a flying tackle in the middle of the store, either.

5 stars A chic-flick my husband couldn't take his eyes off of...
This movie was showing in the nail salon a few weeks ago, but I didn't watch it b/c it had already started and I have a "thing" about starting a movie 1/2 way through that I've never seen. So instead I had a lot of conversation with the nail technician. Anyway, onto the movie. I bought it yesterday and plopped it in last night to watch after kids were in bed. Hubby grabbed his laptop to do some work, figuring it is a chic-flick and he'd be able to get all kinds of work done in 111 minutes. Not so!! He was laughing along with me and enjoying each and every minute. Even went so far as to say "that was a really good movie, wouldn't have been upset if I spent money on it in the theatre."

5 stars A fabric - cated story
Dress up a video with 27 misses and you have one hit, including the 28th dress sung to the tune of "Here Comes the Bride." Delightful entertainment!
