Product Description: The Discover Bellydance series, featuring twins Veena and Neena Bidasha, teaches you Egyptian Bellydance moves and choreographed dance routines. This boxed set combines three of their most popular DVD titles (titles are also available separately): Basic Dance This program introduces the fundamental movements of Bellydancing. You will learn the basic dance moves that will enable you to perform a fully choreographed dance routine. After a satisfying warm-up, you will receive step-by-step instructions from identical twins Veena & Neena, on how to execute the upper and lower body movements associated with Bellydance. The elements are isolated and taught slowly, so you can quickly grasp the subtleties. As you become more comfortable with the moves, you can develop speed and expression. Veena & Neena will teach you hip drops and shimmies, undulations, half-turns and wrist circles combined with graceful arm and shoulder moves. Now you are ready to integrate these movements into a fun and exciting choreographed dance routine. Beyond Basic Dance This program introduces the intermediate movements of bellydancing. After a satisfying warm-up, Veena & Neena will teach you rib circles, hip drop-kicks and shimmies, traveling steps and full turns combined with graceful arm and shoulder moves. Now you are ready to integrate these movements into a fun and exciting choreographed dance routine! Mystic Dance This program introduces the softer and more flowing movements of bellydance. You will learn seductive moves that will enable you to perform a fully choreographed and mesmerizing dance routine. After a satisfying warm-up, Veena & Neena will teach you upward and downward figure eights, spins, traditional veil movements and head slides combined with seductive arm and shoulder moves. Now you are ready to integrate these movements into a fun and exciting choreographed dance routine!

Standard bellydance fare -- good for some, but not all there is
Veena and Neena are great. I know more than a few talented young ladies who learned a lot from these courses, and who look better now than I likely ever will. That said, I personally don't find the tapes (so to speak) appealing now, and I hope that my comments will be taken not so much as a criticism of these fine teachers, as an elucidation of how this course compares to one of the other styles that is out there, and hopefully the reader will find it helpful in confirming their choice of styles.
These videos assume very little past experience with belly dance, and they teach a routine, element by element. I don't like dance or exercise classes that are geared towards learning one specific routine. I'd rather learn the bodywork and the overall feel. It seems like that is the standard way that these kind of classes are done, however -- sort of like working towards a performance or something.
Their style is pretty and sweet, and their makeup is non-threatening, but for me the pace was too slow (as I do have some experience in this, even if I'm not very good it has been a hobby for 20 years or so) and kind of bland.
If you want a pleasant introduction, I think Veena and Neena are very nice.
But if you want something a little more edgy, like you've been looking at "tribal" or "fusion" style belly dance, this might not be for you.

Awestuck
I've been wanting to learn belly dance for quite some time. I originally had a set from Dolphina, and I was largely unimpressed. The way it was shot made it difficult to learn the moves, and thus I left it alone for awhile.
This is by far a superior set to the one that I had before, and I was incredibly happy that I was able to see the moves being done!
I also liked the fact that they started out slowly and moving from the top portion of the body to the bottom -- easing you into the moves that get demonstrated later on.
I would suggest this particular set to anyone looking to get into belly dance.

Basic Bellydance
These 3 DVD are very basic. This is perfect for begginer's. I was a little disapointed, because we don't see the 2 twins dance. They do the cohégraphie but nothing in there own style. I wanted to see them dance.

Another great set...
I had purchased two of their dvds in the past, so when I found this series, it was my first purchase choice. When compared alongside Rania's "Learn to Bellydance" dvd, the Bellytwins clearly come on top. This is a much better instructional "workout". It's not too strenuous, but the teaching is good.
All things considered, I really like this set.

Decent
I purchased it a year ago, and used it for good solid month. Instructions are easy to follow, and they move at right pace. Since there are three discs you won't get too bored. Bonus performances are cool, and gives you an idea of how pro dancers shimmy and shake. My 1 year old and 2 year old daughters join me and try to dance with me. But after some practice, I was ready for more rigorous, intermediate level. If you are looking for a DVD set that will teach you basics of belly-dancing then this is the right one!
