Product Description: As an art student in Paris, Christie Brinkley was approached by a photographer for a one-shot assignment that turned out to be a career-maker. This 44-minute Intimate Portrait, narrated by Brinkley's good friend Jill Rappaport, takes viewers from the supermodel's girlhood in Malibu with her brother, their beloved stepfather, and mother through her four marriages and astonishing career. Cooperating with this Lifetime effort are model agency owner Eileen Ford, agent Nina Blanchard, ex-husband Billy Joel, current husband Peter Cook, various friends, all immediate family members, and Brinkley herself. The result is a warm and detailed look at her triumphs--three Sports Illustrated swimsuit-issue covers in a row, the longest ever Cover Girl contract, a successful book and calendars, and three happy children. At the same time, neither Brinkley nor the producers shy from discussing her trials: a near-fatal helicopter crash, the death of a cherished boyfriend, and three failed marriages. This comprehensiveness makes for a well-rounded portrait of one of today's more upbeat celebrities. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Customer Reviews
Play it again Christie
If you are a die-hard Brinkley fan, then maybe, at best, this is an okay purchase. You may like visiting "Christie-land", for this is where Ms. Brinkley lives, in a land far, far away... But if you are a normal person, you may be tired, as I am, of hearing the same practiced "hard luck" stories over and over again. Ms. Brinkley has milked the helicopter crash, her 3 failed marriages (for which it might be interesting if she would take some personal responsibility for once), Oliver Chandon's death (she was already dating Billy Joel when he died so get the story straight), and her conception "woes" (an injustice to those women who have real infertility). In addition, I have heard different versions of these same old stories from Ms Brinkley in other interviews. I am unclear as to her criteria for choosing any particular version. This form of propaganda is annoying and dishonest. Had she not been married to Billy Joel, nor have her current publicist (who is very good), she would have appropriately faded from our memory long ago. The content of this video is an insult to any thinking woman or man. Celebrity is the right of those whose talent and good works enrich the world, or of those who are, at least, interesting or entertaining. Christie Brinkley's "celebrity" is at best contrived, and most certainly is none of the above. It is too bad that a good director like Kenny Golde got stuck with this subject. Overall impression: nothing new here, don't waste your money. Or your time.
