Product Description: If you think math is too boring to take a serious interest in, check out the Standard Deviants! Their Calculus, Part 2 is a wild romp through the open fields of high school and college level math, using wacky animation, funny examples, and clear, what's-it-all-about writing to bring calculus to life for even the most jaded. Covering more advanced topics than its companion volume, Calculus, Part 1, this tape shows us a bunch of applications of the derivative (like "Uncle Skippy's Minimum Surface Area"), as well as an introduction to the antiderivative and the definite integral. Better still, the tape includes some ultracompact reference sheets to help us remember the formulas and concepts introduced on the tape. If you or someone you know is having problems with the subject, Calculus, Part 2 should point the way to better grades. --Rob Lightner

Customer Reviews
Worked for me!
I used this DVD to prepare for the CLEP Calculus exam and I passes by a very small margin (that is not a complaint at all). Along with part I, this DVD covered most of the relevant topics but to pass the CLEP they aren't quite enough. The standard deviants do not cover implicit derivatives or trigonimic derivatives and could use some more complicated examples for integration.
Having said that, these DVD's do provide a sound foundation and are easily understandable. The presentation is a little childish but, as I said, I needed them to prepare for the CLEP and, with few other resources, I did.

A continuation of first semester calculus
This video presents material using comedy, visual effects and a group of actors. Topics coverd include: critical points, local extrema, concavity, min/maximum problems, position - velocity - acceleration functions, antiderivatives, Reimann Sums, definate integrals area between two curves and substitution. The integration techniques used are the basic techniques covered in first semester calculus. It is a good tool to use in conjunction with class, study and homework.
