Product Description: The Let's Get Ready Vanity comes with a full-sized styling head, vanity, and plenty of accessories that girls can use on themselves or Dora. Ideal for ages three to seven, Dora is ready for little girls to style, and then they can join her on exciting dress-up adventures. The Styling Station With more than 100 interactive words and phrases, the Let's Get Ready Vanity amuses little ones for hours. Girls can sit at it just like they would at a real vanity. The stool is incredibly sturdy and can hold up to 200 pounds. Featuring bright pink, purple, and yellow colors and storage space for all the accessories, the vanity saves parents from worrying about lost pieces, and the vanity fits nicely into a child's room. The Dora styling head turns all the way around, making it easy to blow dry, straighten, or brush the hair. Thick, dark brown, and the ideal length for braiding or twisting into pony tails, Dora's hair feels smoother and less synthetic than a typical doll's hair. On some popular toys, the hair can be shortened or lengthened so that girls feel like they gave the doll a real cut, but unfortunately that is not so with this styling head.
The Let's Get Ready Vanity comes complete with a full-sized styling head. View larger. |
Styling tools help brush, crimp, curl, and blow dry Dora's hair. View larger. | Que Bonita, Dora Dora needs help getting ready for her next big adventure. To start, place one of the three pictures into the frame to hear phrases in English and Spanish. Now it is time to give Dora a makeover! Girls can pretend to crimp, curl, blow dry, or brush Dora's hair using the accessories. When the styling tool is removed from the area at the top, Dora magically recognizes it and says its name in both languages. After her hair is properly styled, add a little lipstick, a dab of perfume, and some jewelry. She is ready to attend her friend's party. And with 10 included accessories, little ones can pretend style their own hair just like Dora's. One of the most appealing features of this interactive vanity is that it is bilingual in English and Spanish. Youngsters might soon be saying, "que bonita, Dora" when the makeover is complete. Dress-Up with Dora Dora the Explorer is extremely popular and during the testing process, it became easy to see that the Let's Get Ready Vanity will be too. Little girls love to play dress-up and the vanity encourages imagination while keeping them out of their mother's makeup. Besides the aforementioned styling tools, other cool accessories add to the fun. There are thick rubber bands for pigtails, jewelry pieces, cute barrettes, and a flower-shaped perfume bottle. Even though girls could spend all day beautifying themselves and Dora, there are a few drawbacks. Although the doll's hair is exceptional in quality, brushing out the tangles took some muscle and the brush didn't perform as expected. Some parents might find Dora's sing-song voice irritating, but luckily they can just press the on-off switch for quiet play. Perhaps the biggest issue is that Dora is just a styling head, not a real doll that can be picked up and played with. However, with all the phrases and neat trinkets, this small setback doesn't take away from the vanity's entertainment value. Made out of sturdy plastic, the Let's Get Ready Vanity measures 23-1/4 by 14-1/2 by 35 inches (LxWxH). Three AA batteries are included. Pros - Speaks both English and Spanish phrases
- Packed with cool accessories
- Smooth, rooted hair for styling
- On-off switch allows quiet play
Cons - Dora styling head can't be picked up and played with
- Hair doesn't grow or shorten
- Brush difficult to work with
What's in the Box 4 vanity legs, mirror, styling head, picture fame, stool seat, 2 stool legs, and 10+ styling accessories.

Customer Reviews
Perfect for your little princess!
The bright colors and molded plastic construction of this toy make it a good fit for the targeted age group. Assembly was fairly straight forward. My only complaints are that Dora's hair pulls out if you have to try to comb tangles out of it, and the electronics in the card reader are temperamental. If you don't mind Dora going bald like your three year old's Barbie, and you don't use the card reader (we really don't), it's not a big deal. All things considered, I would buy one again. My little one is getting a lot of play time out of it.

great for 2 to 4 yr.olds
My two year old granddaughter received this for her birthday, and loved it, so I purchased it for my three year old granddaughter for Christmas. I am sure she will love it, as she loves Dora, and loves to brush her dolls hair.

Tangled Mess??
I agree this toy is great from the size, to the accessories, and even Dora's head... My problem is that the hair is a MESS! Am I the only one seeing this? My 5 y/o got this for Xmas and as of now (May) she barely plays with Dora b/c you cannot do anything with her hair. I've read on-line how to fix the hair but it's not working (detangle shampoo, Downy, wig brush only (this is key I think - that's the only kind of brush you are supposed to use with the American Girl dolls)... I'm contacting FP on Monday to see if I can get a new head for her.... Any other suggestions??

Dora Dora EVERYWHERE!
Well, I have seen it all this year-My 6 year old (who I was hoping was getting OLD enough to fall out of love with this star) asked Santa for the Vanity for Christmas-Thank you Amazon for a great pre-christmas price of $49.95 and free shipping!
It assembled easier than any Dora toy (and I have it all from Kitchen to dollhouses) I have gotten and was age appropriate (seems Fisher Price is also aware original Dora fans from circa 2002-04 era are "growing older") as she instantly styled and did her makeup-playing little with the cards for "adventures" but more with the jewelry and gadgets for making Dora "Beautiful" I liked what I saw-she played with it and shut off the sound! (Yes, of course, she says everything you do and touch in English and Spanish in her irritating Dora Voice) It's about the right height for a 4-5 year old though, not a 6-7 year old as the box states. But my girl is happy to sit on the stool and play for long periods of time 2 monthes after Christmas!
I noted the cost now, and I believe this is more a $[...] toy at best. Keep waiting, they'll go down again!!

Great Vanity Overall
My 2.5 year old daughter got this for Christmas, and it was a hit. She played with it for 2 hours straight. The novelty has certainly worn off, but she still uses it about 3-4 times a week.
I thought that the sound was a little too loud, but it's not terribly anoying. The toys/tools are pretty well constructed, we haven't had any break yet. The mirror is also really good; it's not a sticker. I would buy it again if I had to.
I love that it keeps her busy.
