Customer Reviews
Skeletool, pretty cool.
What are my credentials for rating this? We have a farm, I rock climb, ice climb, camp and mountaineer and I regularly work on farm equipment, old Land Rovers and motorcycles.
I'm a multitool whore. I have the original PST, the SuperTool, Wave, Victorinox Swiss multitool, Schraeder's multitool, Gerber Multi-pliers, Kershaw's multitool, several swiss army knives and the Leatherman mini.
Up until now, I've always ended up going back to the original PST. It had all the tools I needed, with the size that fit easily into a pocket. Personally, I hate having crap hanging off my belt. It gets caught on stuff and things can get dropped. Plus it looks bad, face it--you know it does.
Yes, the PST hurts your hands when gripping the pliers tightly, but gloves pretty much cover that problem.
Depending on the situation, I will carry one of the others (camping I like to have the saw; ice climbing, I like having vise grips and file on the Kershaw tool; working on electrics I like the cable cutter jaws on the Gerber tool, etc) but generally I carry the PST 95% of the time. Until now.
The skeletool is low profile like the PST. That's a big plus for me. It slips into my pocket like a pocket knife but still has the pliers as a primary tool, unlike a swiss army knife. The knife is very good.
BTW, I went with the Skeletool not the Skeletool CX because I cannot find a good way to sharpen serrated blades.
The bit driver is the best I've used. Get the accessory bit kit, it has the bits I need for ice tools. The carabiner clip works well, despite seeming a bit gimmicky. The bottle opener is awesome.
If it had a file on it, I'd give it 5 stars (the PST has a file, btw).
Nowadays, I carry the Skeletool 75% of the time and it's the tool I take climbing. The PST goes when I'm working in the muck (on the farm). The Gerber is still my electrical choice. Now that I have a good way to bring 4 and 5 mm Allen bits, I don't need the Kersaw ViceGrips out ice climbing.
Bottom line: This is a bare bones, lightweight tool. If compactness matters AND you only really need knife, pliers and driver bits, this is the right tool. (Really, you can use the plier jaws as a bottle opener if you need to).

Does not replace the Kick.
It is o.k. but I would rather have and use my Leatherman Kick. It is just a little to small to do the jobs that I do with my Kick. Thanx Deacon

Love it...
I do a lot of "light duty" weekend work where I'm frequently in need of a screwdriver, pliers, and/or knife...this tool fits the bill! I've found the quick-access knife to be better than expected. The pliers have a very solid feel to them and work well. Some multitools collapse too easy but not this one, it's firm and built well...not at all loose. I don't like that I have to carry an extra pouch of bits for the screwdriver funtion but it does have both flat and phillips blades which is mostly what I need. The lightweight makes it easy to carry, even when wearing shorts. At this point, I feel naked without it!

Good Tool
This is a pretty good tool if you're looking for something that is fairly light weight, has a pocket clip, and easy access to the folding knife blade and excellent bottle opener/carabiner. I've been carrying this tool daily for the past few months and really like it. You may want to get backup screwdriver insert bits as I just noticed that my phillips has apparantly fallen out and will need replacing.

Skeletool, all the muscle.. none of the fat
Great product, essentially the holy grail of plier meet knife meet utili-driver; plus carabiner (For hanging off a cliff or opening that beer)
Bought a friend the stainless steel one, and the pliers sheered, appeared to be manufacture defect in the steel. Was promptly replaced with no cost to me. Two Thumbs.. woohoo!
