Great beginner learning toy!
My husband and I bought this toy for our 3 yr. old daughter last Christmas given the fact that she was becoming more and more interested in trying to play games on our own computer. We didn't think she would catch on as quickly as she did but she is a whiz at most of the games on it. My husband and I had no clue how to show her what to do so she has been on her own from the beginning!
Its so funny and enjoyable to see her learning her abcs and advancing to highter levels but my only complaint is that the volume can't be turned off. Even at its lowest setting, it is still pretty loud but overall I can't complain. Its a great buy and she is still playing it today!(The battery life on it is amazing too! She plays with it quite often and we've yet to change the batteries)

Fantastic for 3+
My son got this laptop for his 3rd birthday. It was fun for him to push buttons and click the mouse just like mom and dad, however he didn't know how to really use it. He is now almost 3 1/2 and the light just clicked one day. He started matching shapes and then started matching the letters and numbers. In two weeks he has learned almost all of the alphabet. I love that it helps kids recognize upper and lower case letters. He now wants a bit more of a challange and plays the game where you type the letters before the monkey can pop them. He has fun playing on his computer and I love knowing that he is learning at the same time.

VTech Laptop - best thing to have for kids
My daughter is just 2 years and 4 months old now. She is having nice time with this Laptop and most importantly she has started learning very fast. The conventional home method of teaching ABC and with this laptop is totally different. The Laptop keeps the kids in focus for a longer period and learn faster (as I said earlier). Excellent product!!

Over-Priced
Did not do my homework this time. On-line price was nearly double in-store prices. Good toy!

Volume control issue "Not parent friendly"
I own the pink version of this product...identical but instead...pink.
Aside from the following, this beginner laptop has its uses, it no doubt educates but because of the following, this toy can be a parent's nightmare.
** On the lower right of the "screen" flap, there exists a volume control meant for parents, but it is most used by the child. The loudest setting for the volume is not the issue, but the monkey shreeks that play non-stop to give you an audible example of the volume level. I would expect that when pressing this button, you would hear the monkey shreeks to adjust the volume and then continue on...BUT, when the volume button is pressed and then the child walks away from the unit, the monkey shreeks continue non-stop until the unit goes into power saver "off" mode after 2-3 minutes or another key is pressed. My daughter presses this button last and then walks away...leaving me to travel to the other side of the home to stop the incessant monkey from shreeking. If you can handle this sometimes rude Chinese joke being played on us Americans, you will enjoy this product, however in my home, it may well sit in the closet until my daughter can learn not to just press the "monkey button" and walk away.
