Product Description: Most wrestling video games try to capitalize on well-known licenses, but end up falling short in their portrayal of TV-style wrestling. Not so the acclaimed Fire Pro Wrestling games. This translation for the GBA keeps the tradition of play over personality intact. Any real fan of the body blow and the suplex should want this game. Featuring 150 different wrestlers from which to choose, each with his or her own moves and finishers--as well as the option to combine more than 1,200 techniques and styles to create your own grapplers for the 3-D isometric ringside--Fire Pro Wrestling doesn't lack variety. You can even link up your GBA unit to fight against your friends or trade wrestlers you've created. You can also play against the computer, which turns out to be a pretty good opponent. The game takes full advantage of both the A and B and the shoulder buttons, so the control is solid. Getting used to the time delay for punches and kicks can be frustrating, however. The manual does an excellent job in teaching you the tremendous variety of moves, and once you've learned what you can do, the gameplay is extremely satisfying. About the only thing lacking from the game is familiar personalities. In offering so many fighters, each seems rather bland, and one is often a thin variation on the last. Of course, your own imagination can let you add a Rock-like or Mankind-esque wrestler, if that's what you want. Anyway, it's good fun for a handheld. Can you smell what your Game Boy is cookin'? --Andrew S. Bub Pros: - A wide variety of wrestlers, plus the option to make your own
- Lots and lots of moves
- Trade wrestlers and play head-to-head by linking up
Cons: - Could use a bit more personality
- Slight control lag

Customer Reviews
You can't go home again.
I played the original Firepro Wrestling on the Sega Saturn. It was released in Japan only and I needed a translation in English to do anything. My friends and I played this game over and over. In fact we still, to this day, say CRITICAL! Which is one of the few English words we could understand. When your wrestler was totally defeated he would be CRITICALed. The wrestler creation capabilities were and still are the very best offering from any wrestling game. It was 2 dimensional then and is still 2d on the GBA. If you are like me and don't care about graphics you may still enjoy this game. I bought it on Amazon and played it for about 3 minutes before checking out the wrestler creation. I was shocked to find the format had changed, but the tools for creation are still the same as they ever were. However my gaming tastes have changed a lot since 1999, and 2 dimensional graphics are just too hard to go back to. I can acknowledge the greatness of this game without actually enjoying it, but if it didn't cost me only 5 bucks I would be wrighting a way worse review. If you still pick up Mario Bros. now and again or if you run out to by every new Namco or Midway or Capcom "Classics" game. You may enjoy this game way more than I do now. You might actually get as much enjoyment out of it as my friends and I did 6-7 years ago. If you are either under 26 years old or are currently playing X-Box 360 or X-Box Live games like Halo2, steer clear of this one. 1999 rating 8.5 out of 10. 2006 3.3 out of 10.

Fire Pro Wrestling is awesome.
This is a great wrestling game. The best for the GBA next to the second version. You have to rename all of the wrestlers you know. This is to protect the copyright issues. A few of the hints to rename a)the nicknames chosen b)the names chosen and c) the finishers chosen. to unlock the hidden wresters you must go to the EDIT menuselect EDIT SUPERSTAR go to NAME ENTRY. on the first line type ALL on the line below it type STYLES and on the line next to that type CLEAR. This should unlock all the hidden wrestlers.

Best Wrestling game for GBA
This is the bset wrestling game for GBA. It has Sabu,Hayabusa,The H,Rob Van Dam,Sting,Stone Cold Steve Austin,Mike Awesome,Masato Tanaka,The Rock,Hulk Hogan,Goldberg Chris Benoit,Ultimo Dragon,Rey Mysterio,The Lame Cripple-H and a lot more. The promotions include,WWF,WCW,nWo Japan,FMW,NJPW,AJPW,PRiDE,UFC,M-Pro,NOAH and more. This is the most complete wrestling game. To unlock hidden Characters [. . . ] To protect infringment rights, bam! Entertainment has made up fake names for the pro wrestlers. Most WCW and WWF stars will be recognizable by name, appearence or finisher. Some of the Japanese wrestlers will also be easy to identify by the same three traits listed above. I don't mind the 2-D graphics. This is a hell of alot better than WWF Road to Wrestlemania, which sucked completely. My mistake it'a [. . .] to unlock everybody. [. . .] is the hidden character code for Fire Pro 2. Sorry for the mix up. My bad.

not to shabby but the graphics- EWWWWWW!
FIre pro wrestling is a very fun, very hard game with great sound and above average game play. It was one of the first releases for the original game boy advance. The character creator is great and is actually better then most of the N64 wrestling characte creators. the bad news is, the graphics look like ... and once a match starts, the only way to stop it is to win, lose, or turn off your gameboy. ONe of the coolest things to do is to set the # of player to 0 and then watch the match like a TV show. half the time the wreastlers only grapple though if you are using created wrestlers. over all: - Gameplay 5/6 - Graphics 3/6 - Sound 6/6 - Replayability 4/6 final score: 18/24 = B-

avoid this game!!
I bought this thinking it would be good with all the features it was suppose to have. The only thing good about this game is the create a wrestler mode. The matches are boring and long!! Who wants to fight for 30 min!!!! You have to have perfect timing to pull off a move and you have to stop and hold L to breathe so you don't run out of breath!!! When I play a wrestling game I want to fight not to breate and not to have perfect timing!! With 150 wretlers is good but it doesn't make up for the terrible matches!! AVOID THIS GAME NO MATTER WHAT!!!
