Product Description: An impressively rigorous, unsentimental, and harrowing look at combat during World War II, Band of Brothers follows a company of airborne infantry--Easy Company--from boot camp through the end of the war. The brutality of training takes the audience by increments to the even greater brutality of the war; Easy Company took part in some of the most difficult battles, including the D-Day invasion of Normandy, the failed invasion of Holland, and the Battle of the Bulge, as well as the liberation of a concentration camp and the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest. But what makes these episodes work is not their historical sweep but their emphasis on riveting details (such as the rattle of a plane as the paratroopers wait to leap, or a flower in the buttonhole of a German soldier) and procedures (from military tactics to the workings of bureaucratic hierarchies). The scope of this miniseries (10 episodes, plus an actual documentary filled with interviews with surviving veterans) allows not only a thoroughness impossible in a two-hour movie, but also captures the wide range of responses to the stress and trauma of war--fear, cynicism, cruelty, compassion, and all-encompassing confusion. The result is a realism that makes both simplistic judgments and jingoistic enthusiasm impossible; the things these soldiers had to do are both terrible and understandable, and the psychological price they paid is made clear. The writing, directing, and acting are superb throughout. The cast is largely unknown, emphasizing the team of actors as a whole unit, much like the regiment; Damian Lewis and Ron Livingston play the central roles of two officers with grit and intelligence. Band of Brothers turns a vast historical event into a series of potent personal experiences; it's a deeply engrossing and affecting accomplishment. --Bret Fetzer

5 stars Band of Brothers
Come watch this movie to learn about the heroes of World War II. They truly are the greatest generation. Without their sacrifice and heroism we as a nation would not exist nor the citizenry of Europe. A must see for those who want to know what WWII was like in both U.S. and abroad. Highly recommended! 5 stars A landmark television miniseries
Band of Brothers is an absolutely superb television miniseries. It's based on the excellent Stephen E. Ambrose non-fiction book of the same name. This series follows the airborne unit Easy Company in World War II. It was originally broadcast on HBO.

The episodes contain clips (usually right in the beginning of the episode) of actual Easy Company veterans. The episodes are excellent and remarkably well made. The miniseries was produced by Stephen Spielberg and Tom Hanks after their collaboration on Saving Private Ryan. The episodes contain a high degree of historical accuracy and are of movie quality.

The miniseries begins in Camp Tocca, Georgia in 1942 when Easy Company begins boot-camp in preparation for World War II. It follows them through D-Day, Operation Market-Garden, Bastogne, a discovery of a Nazi concentration camp, and eventually the Eagle's Nest in Germany. The series consists of the following ten episodes, with each one about one hour in length:

Part 1 - Currahee
Part 2 - Day of Days
Part 3 - Carentan
Part 4 - Replacements
Part 5 - Crossroads
Part 6 - Bastogne
Part 7 - The Breaking Point
Part 8 - The Last Patrol
Part 9 - Why We Fight
Part 10 - Points

The episodes come on six DVD's, with a seventh DVD that contains a great documentary on Easy Company. The documentary is excellent. I recommend watching the documentary after you watch the series. It's very enjoyable to see the actual veterans after you have watched the series and gotten to know them a little bit.

This is a landmark television miniseries that I highly recommend. It also makes a great gift that will surely not disappoint.

5 stars Favorite Films
I won't write a huge review like the others, but I would like to say that this is an extremely well written and directed series of films. Since I ordered this in 2007, I've watched it countless times. Waiting for it on BluRay...

2 stars Band of Brothers
I was disapointted that the cd's did not come in the original metal container, they were just slapped together in little plastic containers. The additional cd telling how they made the movie and personal interviews was also not included.

5 stars One of my top Ten war movie(s)
I first saw this mini series in bits and pieces. I knew it was good, but seeing it from beging to end, I believe it is absolutely great. It is a great tribute to the veterans of World War II. This series is well worth the time spent watching.
