Close shave
While I found the product to be good, I also discovered, shortly afterward, that they make a disposable razor that is cheaper to buy than the replacement blades needed for the Gillette Venus Embrace Razor. My only problem with this razor is that the moisterizer around the blades didn't last through just one shaving of my legs. I still have to use shaving foam when using this razor.
The shave is close and I didn't cut myself once. Its easy to clean in the shower which means a lot to me. The shower mount didn't work for me but I have wavy tiles in my shower and I believe that was the reason. The blades last long and shave close, but in the future I believe I will buy the disposables which work just as well.

Gillette Venus Embrace Razor - Great Razor; Holder Aweful
I have had the opportunity to use the Gillette Venus Embrace Razor. The product is great. The holder fell off of the shower wall within a day. It was very annoying. The design of the holder was interesting and pleasing. Now, if you can get it to stay on the shower tile wall, it will be great.

Does the job
Like men's razors, women's razors are getting more multi-bladed. I've been using Venus razors since the first came out because they seem to be the only razors that don't leave me looking like a slasher film victim when I'm done. The Embrace has five blades and that's pretty much the only difference (besides the pretty green color). You'll pay a little more for replacement blades but the razor will hold any Venus head.

I was really impressed when this razor arrived. I loved that it came with a replacement head and that it had a storage rack with suction cups, so it could be placed out of the reach of children. The razor itself had a great "soft" grip and a nice wide moisture strip. But...

... the Cons --

The wide "face" on this razor kept it from delivering a close shave even though there were 5 blades. When I used it on my legs I found that it didn't get REALLY close, although it was very maneuverable. When my husband tried it, he found the same thing, plus the wide head meant that it really couldn't be easily used as a man's razor because there were places it just wouldn't go-- like under the nose.

Still... the Pros --

Where this razor absolutely excelled was the 'nick' test. I found that no matter how fast I shaved my legs I never came close to cutting myself, even around the knee. In fact, I am so impressed with this razor that I called my sister to recommend that she get it for my nieces who are just getting to the age where they will soon be shaving.

I think this is an ideal razor for shaving newbies.

No Doubt About It - This is a Nice Razor. However . . .
I've used Venus razors for years, and the Venus Embrace is a cut above the more standard Venus offerings. A gel handle makes this razor easier to control than previous models. No nicks, No razor burn, and the moisturizing ribbon around the blades helps the razor glide very smoothly. So why not rate it five stars?

Two problems

First, the pod that is supposed to stay on the shower wall doesn't. At least, on my shower wall, it stays for only three hours. Then I hear "bump, clank," and it's down again. After three trys, I gave up! The extra blade will stay in the cabinet until needed.

Second, the price of additional blades is high. You'll have to decide if the extra performance of this razor (nice) is worth the $3.00+ for a refill blade (not so nice in my book).

Will this razor replace my earlier Venus razors? Probably not, but, of course, this is a personal issue, so you'll be the judge.
