Paul Revere & the Raiders are not on this tape
Don't get me wrong-I love Kenny, I'm a big Gladys fan, and Tina's performance is definitely worth the money I spent on the tape, but I bought the tape based on listings that Mark Lindsay, Keith Allison, Paul Revere, and Mike Smith performed on the show (it's actuallly two shows on the tape, but I digress). It's a good tape and it's nice to see Kenny before he went under the knife, but there are no Raiders here and I'm a little disappointed.

Kenny Rogers and The First Edition are the best!
I really love the show Rollin' and wish a complete dvd set of the series would come out. In the meantime though this tape contains 2 poorly edited copies of original episodes it is worth seeing. Ike and Tina are great. The version of Proud Mary here is one of their best. Gladys Knight and Kin Vassey's duet is terrific. Kenny himself has stated he didn't know why Kin didn't become a solo success as well. He had a stong bluesy voice that has been missed since his mid 90s death. Kenny's best moment is There's An Old Man In Our Town. Many will be surprised to see his "hippie" look but I for one think he looks really cool. Even more iumpressive is the smooth tibre of his voice, something that was lost as he entered his 40s. Terry Williams get's to do a little comedy and the whole band shines on an accustic jam of Hey Bo Diddley. All in all worthwhile though sloppy in execution. The company didn't even bother with the correct song titles on the back.

Was it really so long ago?
The guest performances are fine, but this video also gives a glimpse into the carefree fun times that made "Rollin' on the River" a syndicated favorite of mine. For anyone who grew up in that era, it's a welcome look back. The music prevails in this all-too-brief tape; more of the old comedy bits would have been nice to see.

Its great to see the First Edition back together again
Todays top groups could never handle hosting their own show but these guys handle it well... They are all singers in their own right and i especially like the pairing of Gladys Knight with member Kin Vassy. Its a great window into what it was like to be buying music in the 70s.. I really enjoyed it.

Ike and Tina Shine on this cool tv show
I like The First Edition and Kenny sure looks young but the songs they sing on this tape stink. Ike and TinA are fantastic! I feel Ike is a musicial legend that is sorly overlooked. Tina is much better in this stage of her carear. Gladys Knight is good too. Get Back, She came into the Bathroom window and Proud Mary are Ike and Tina's set list (which like the rest of the songs is mislabeled on the box) I hope people see this but for a fan of the First Edition there had to have been better footage somewhere. Don't Miss Ike and Tina!
