Product Description: A pilot crash-lands in the Sahara desert, and is surprised to meet a tiny prince with a sword... but who doesn't know the story of the beloved book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry? The slim philosophical classic has delighted millions, and the 1974 musical of the book has its own charms. Scored by the estimable team of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe and directed by Stanley Donen, this is a tuneful piece of whimsy that's better in moments than it is overall. Two guest appearances energize the second half: Gene Wilder as a lonely fox, and the superbly slinky Bob Fosse as a salacious snake (Fosse choreographed his own number, a welcome touch of Cabaret amidst the whimsy). Some of the book's slight observations don't translate well to the literalness of the screen, but that won't matter to kids, who should be hooked from the very first "Draw me a sheep." --Robert Horton

1 stars Little Prince DVD
I was disappointed that it didn't follow the storyline of the book.
In some respects, the movie was too silly. I think that the movie missed some of the important messages from the story book.

5 stars One of the best movies for adults based on the children's book
I consider it one of the sweetest movie ever. The entire novel is so different, that it's should be a required reading / watching for both children and adults. Yes, it's a fantasy, but now days bards still sing about the Little Prince and his "dependants". Also, Gene Wilder, whom I love to death, is absolutely fantastic there.
It's a MUST.

4 stars Delightful Tale for All Ages!
A delightful story for all ages adapted from the French author Antoine de Saint-Exupery. An excellent cast also makes this film work well...........
The overall message is timeless in providing several wake up calls in a light and entertaining way on the philosophy of life. Moreover, the young lad that portrays the Little Prince is excellent.

1 stars Oh my!...
I'm a French teacher who was looking for a video to go along with the book. I thought it would be a fun and entertaining break for my students. I'm not sure they've forgiven me yet. That was the most brutal 88 minutes of our lives. It was like a car wreck you can't look away from! Save your money! Watch paint dry. Watch test patterns on TV. Stare at the wall for an hour and a half. Seriously, ANYTHING would be more entertaining! Mon Dieu!

5 stars Beautiful!
It has been awhile since I've been inspired to write a review of a movie. I can't remember where or when I first heard of the Little Prince, but it was many years ago. I recently re-read the book, and decided to watch the movie. I wasn't disappointed. The movie was a very well done musical-fantasy. Richard Kiley has such a beautiful voice. Steven Warner, who played the little prince sounded fine also, in spite of his youth. I wonder what ever happened to him? I couldn't find any info on him on the internet.
