4 stars A great game for the wii
Madden O9, compared to the other madden games it is alot better. Some people will say working the buttens is to hard but once you get the hang of it, its not hard at all. The franchise mode is still very fun plus the off-season is very fun. You can also design your own wide reciever routes and flay against people online. Overall, a very fun game if you know how to work the buttons.

2 stars PS2 PORT!!!
PS2 Port with motion controls..
EA has watered down this game to be kiddy friendly.
The best feature I like about this game, You can call your own shoots.

The graphics are ps2 looking, EA is like other third party developers..They really have no interest in the wii, Only the high powered consoles (360/PS3).

The reason I say that is, Just about every third party game that comes out on the wii is low quality and not worth the price..And yes! Graphics does play a major role in most games (Sports)...How come the 360/PS3 has all the heavy hitters and the wii don't?

Shame on EA!

4 stars Just buy it already
I was a little weary to buy this, but after reading reviews for the last week I decided to pick it up. So far I have really enjoyed it. The game play is fun and fast and I like using the wiimote. There are a ton of modes and even online play which I haven't tried yet.

People have been complaining about the graphics and they need to STFU and realize its a Wii, not a PS3 or XBOX360. The graphics are really simple and that's exactly what I want on a Wii. I dont care about the people in the stands that look like pixelated blobs. I just want to play football and this game delivers on that.

Madden 09 is a must buy if you call yourself a football fan.

4 stars Wii Madden 09 alot more fun than PS3 version
I rented both over the past few days to see which one I should buy. The PS3 was first and it was alot harder than any version I had ever played on the PS2. It looked really sharp but it was very frustrating to play. Next came the Wii version as soon as my wife and I put it in we were playing a few minutes later both having alot of fun in the process. I had orginally planned to get the PS3 version because of graphics and the realism, but it was just so hard to get it started and figure it out. Now I wouldn't call myself a Madden master but i could hold my own on the last PS2 version I played. The PS3 just seemed like it was going to take alot of time and effort I don't have to give. I had never played any Wii version, but i am definetly going to go with the Wii version just cause it was so easy to start it up and start to play.

5 stars Basic Football Game without the Bells and Whistles
I just purchased this game on Sunday and I have to say this is one of the best Madden Games I've played in a long time. It is far from perfect but playing Madden using the Wii remote is actually fun.

However the game is missing Create-a-Player and Create-a-Team. Come on EA! It's the Wii. The system has a Mii channel for creating your own likeness. You would think people who own a Wii would want to create their own player in the game especially for the five on five. Obviously this game was developed as an after thought to the PS3 and 360 versions.

There's also no instant replay which would have been nice for presentation. But even without all these features the game is still fun to play... Just not online. The fair play rules pretty much rob you of any enjoyment of competing online. You have practically no time to choose a play and with the way the plays are lined up on the screen it takes for ever to scroll through them all. For some reason the playbooks are different online. I pretty much have the Balanced Offense and Cover 2 Defense playbooks memorized but when I selected them online the formations are different and the plays are in a different arrangement. Online play is unbalanced and often times I find the computer likes to hit me with penalties but not the other player. Also there seems to be a glitch in the programming because every time I try to call a coverage audible or formation shift if I'm controlling a linemen he will line up offside. Trying to compete with players on my skill level is a real pain. It seems everyone who owns this game only wants to compete on All-Pro. I don't know about you but like to complete at least 60% of my pass rather than 20 or 30%. At least I have no trouble running the ball.

Due to my distaste of the online mode and the lack of options such as starting your own league, I think it would have been better off if they had not included an online mode.

All the other features of this game are pretty much the same as other Maddens I've played on the PS2 but there seems to be a whole lot missing which is disappointing. It seems all you are really getting with this version is just a basic football game. But like I said before this game is fun to play.

The motion controls work almost perfect in this game but there are control option I don't necessarily agree with such as waving the Wii remote to snap the ball or perform a juke move or stiff arm. Fortunately I play the game on the pro level so I have the automatic juke feature turned on. I like that you can chose who you're going to throw to before you snap the ball and you can control the speed of your pass by how fast you swing the Wii remote. Punting the ball has never been easier because you have complete control over how much power you put behind your kick. 3 times in a row I was able to pin my opponents at the 3 yard line.

Call your shots mode is perhaps the best new feature I've seen in a Madden game. I can draw virtually any route for my receivers to run and take advantage of weaknesses I see in the defense. It is a little time consuming to setup and I wouldn't recommend using this feature online unless you want to get called for delay of game. (I swear that fair play rule leaves you no time to do anything) You can turn that rule off which I highly recommend for beginners and people who just aren't very good at these games (like me). I really don't understand the All-Play feature in this game. I tried playing it once with it on and it didn't make any sense. How do you chose who to throw to? The booklet and tutorials don't do a good job of explaining it.

This game has its problems but it is still a solid football game and many of you will enjoy playing this game but I can see how others might have a problem with this game.

EA should really consider redesigning this game's look and presentation. Instead of going with the PS2 graphics come up with something unique to the Wii. Do more than just change the game mechanics. The Five on Five was a nice start.
