Product Description: It doesn't get more sublime than this. If anyone is still wondering what all the fuss was about, check this moment in reggae time controlled by the music's avatar, the late Robert Nesta Marley. Marley didn't write and sing songs; he channeled them. And he's clearly a man possessed here, witnessed by an ecstatic audience that's clearly been transported to another, better reality! Of the many performance videos and bio footage devoted to reggae's king, Live at the Rainbow is far and away the finest. Recorded with perfect discretion by the filmmakers during the summer of 1977, just as the Exodus album was peaking on charts and four years before his untimely death, Marley's charisma comes off the screen in potent waves. By then, of course, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer had gone their separate ways, and, unfortunately, a video of comparable quality was never made to capture that legendary joining. But the new Wailers band packed its own star power, including that generated by the late Carlton Barrett on drums and his equally legendary brother "Familyman" on bass, Junior Marvin on lead guitar, and the exquisite harmonies of Bob's backup trio. Dressed in modest, colorful Rastawomen gear, their hair covered, Marley's wife, Rita; Judy Mowatt; and Marcia Griffiths (the latter two were solo stars before they joined up with "Brother Joseph") created background harmonies that remain the competitive standard today. --Elena Oumano

Excellent!!!
Excellent concert...I own a lot of concert DVD's and this is one of my favorites!~ Simple enough!

music and history
This is a great concert and the second dvd with the history of Bob Marley is also really good. It's really worth it if you like Marley. The combination of the music and history make it a great buy.

Bob at his best!
If you are a true Bob Marley fan, this is the concert that you must have. I first saw this when I was 5 years old and ever since then I have thought that this is one of the best concerts that ever existed. Some of the versions of these songs do not (musically) sound exactly like the originals (like most concerts) but they are still awesome. No pyro, no visual stunts (because after all, they didn't exist)...just pure Marley. In this way, you are able to listen to the actual music and lyrics and begin to understand why he is such an influential artist. He feels his music in such a way that the listener has to feel it too. My personal favorite on this is the final song, Exodus. It has so much energy and personifies Bob as a performer: free, spiritual and as live as it gets!

Mesmerizing Performance
I've always been a huge fan of Reggae music, especially Bob Marley. Watching this DVD was almost a spiritual event. Sounds strange, but if you like Bob Marley, this concert footage is moving, and entertaining. Turn up the volume, and enjoy the Legend!

Best of Bob
Not only does this DVD contain a great concert, it has a second disc with a good documentary about Bob and his life. The documentary is interesting and has some great music on it as well.
