Virtual 60's Collection
I got the whole set of three; Peace, Love and Consciousness and have enjoyed seeing them ALL more than a couple of times. OK, I was there...in the 60's but I am not an overly sentimental type- I just thought the presentation was interesting.
Dr. Leary does a good job of framing the three words in their 60's context and the archival footage adds a little perspective to the 25 years after the decade fact. It kind of takes one back in sort of a rockumentaryish way. The music is pretty good, it is a pop fest not the House of Blues and it is what it is, a revisitation- no it's not "the Last Waltz" but it is entertaining...isn't that what it's supposed to be?

Uck
Virtual at best, that is. I have no idea whether or not the other tapes are any better than "The Consciousness Tape" or not because it was so bad that less than half way through I had absolutely lost interest. It was for the most part awful. This first tape (and I assume the other two) contains footage from the 1989 20 years later Woodstock revisited reunion concert. Bad idea.
Watching Melanie's incoherent "performance," Humble Pie's pathetically outdated version of "30 Days in the Hole," and Country Joe's solo rendition of "The Fish Cheer" were painful reminders that some things do not improve with age.
And then there is Timothy Leary, aged guru of the "Sixties," who seems to be saying something revelatory, but not.
On the up side, there was "Canned Heat" and an uncredited performance by the late Paul Buchanan that more or less redeem what otherwise is a waste of time. Indeed, the Buchanan performance is a precious gem in a pile of slag.
Maybe someone who could actually sit through the entire three tapes will contribute a more balanced and considered review. If, that is, they can sit through them without hitting the fast-forward button repeatedly.

Disappointing
I don't know who would like this. A reunion concert with repetative commentary by Timothy Leary.
