Product Description: The Sabrent USB-to-Parallel, 6-foot printer cable is the best solution to convert USB signals to parallel port signals, and it is also compatible with most printers' supported drivers. With a bi-directional technique, this cable makes the communication completely from USB port to parallel port or completely from parallel port to USB port. The model also makes the communication work with both a PC and a Macintosh. This USB-to-parallel printer cable is typically used to connect a printer to a USB port on a PC. It connects a desktop or laptop computer with on-board USB to a parallel interface printer. By using this USB-to-parallel interface converter cable, you can connect any standard parallel printer to a USB port. The USB interface provides a much faster data transfer rate than a standard parallel port, thereby reducing the time waiting for a print job to be sent to your printer. This portable device is self powered and provides plug-and-play installation to any USB-compliant computer running Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, or a Mac running OS 9.2 or higher. It includes a 6-foot USB-to-parallel adapter cable and the drivers on a CD. What's in the Box USB-to-parallel cable; drivers on a CD.

Customer Reviews
Don't gamble on this
Who knows why the people at Sabrent would create a so-called "adapter" cable that works with such a limited number of printers -- but they did.
My experience supports the advice of earlier reviewers who bought this cable, found it useless, then had to turn around and buy a Belkin adapter to get the job done. In this instance, the Sabrent failed to connect a Dell Latitude laptop to a 1200 Series Samsung laser printer. But the Belkin F5U002V1 from Amazon did the trick.
Turns out that if you surf the Web long enough you can find the limited list of printers this Sabrent is made to serve. It should not be this difficult! Ya live and learn.

Salavaged its cost when I bought a new printer
Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel 6-Foot Printer Cable did not work with Windows Vista on two serial printers: HP LaserJet III and Epson Stylus Photo 820. It does work with Vista and a brand new Brothers HL5250DN. This monchrome laserjet has a serial port connection, so I used the Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel 6-Foot Printer Cable to connect it to the CPU. This saved me the cost of buying another USB cable. In hindsight I should have simply bought a new printer, the day I bought my new computer.

Worked for a day.
I purchased this to hook up my old HP 5MP to my iMac G4. That didn't work at all, despite loading the drivers for the cable and for the printer. Then I plugged the cable into my Intel iMac, and it worked! A miracle! A short-lived miracle. It no longer prints. I've tried everything, it's hopeless. The iMac knows that something is plugged in, it just doesn't know what it is anymore.
Additionally, this cable is barely 5 feet long, nowhere near the 6 feet advertised.

You get what you pay for...
I recently replaced an aging PC with a new one having no parallel port, so this USB-to-Parallel cable seemed like the ideal solution to keep my similarly ancient HP Laserjet running (those old HP printers just keep going and going).
The Sabrent cable was the cheapest one available from Amazon, and I soon found out why.
After some trial and error (and a trip to the Sabrent website for instructions not included with the product), I got it working under Vista ... for about a day. After turning off or suspending either the PC or the printer, Vista kept continually "reacquiring" the USB connection but failed to complete any spooled print job, often locking up the printer in the process. By removing and reinstalling the printer via the Windows Control Panel, I was able to get it working again in maybe 1 out of 3 attempts - not worth the effort.
I finally gave up and ordered another slightly more expensive alternative from Amazon (Cables to Go) which actually came with grammatically correct English instructions and worked flawlessly out of the box.
This may be an issue with Vista (reviewers here with Windows XP seem more likely to get the Sabrent cable working), but my advice is to spend a bit more and avoid the frustration.
