Plot Summary:
Benny Miller is a country bumpkin who wants to go to the big city and be a vaccum cleaner salesman. He gets a job working for a company run by the crooked T.S. Chandler. To keep him under his thumb, T.S. Chandler convinces Benny that he's a crackerjack salesman.
ROUTINES & HILIARIOUS MOMENTS:
Lou selling vaccum cleaners
Bud trying to undress Lou
Trivia ([...]): (1)William A. Seiter had previously directed the Marx Brothers and was able to get Margaret Dumont to do a cameo as one of Benny's intended customers.(2)This was the first Abbott and Costello feature in which they did not play a team. The story centers on Lou Costello's character while Bud Abbott does not appear until 16 minutes into the film. This was because the two were in the midst of a terrific feud and did not speak to each other outside the film. The two do not share a scene until 20 minutes into the picture.(3)The film was regarded as a major departure for Abbott and Costello. It was their first situation comedy. The comedy was character/situation driven rather than gag driven.
Goofs ([...]): Continuity: Abbott's toupee shifts noticeably during the "7 times 13=28" scene.

May Be The Best Abbott & Costello Film
I first saw this movie many years ago after seeing countless A&C comedies. I was absolutely amazed by the incredible job that Lou Costello did as a dramatic actor in his role as a vacuum cleaner salesman working for his ruthless and self-serving boss (Bud Abbott). If you like A&C movies you MUST see this one.

ONE OF ABBOTT & COSTELLO'S BEST FILMS
Bud and Lou show that they can do more than just slapstick in this film. They work seperately in this one. Costello plays a backwoods farmboy, who goes to the big city, and becomes a door-to-door vaccum cleaner salesman. This classic shows us for the FIRST time that Lou Costello is NOT ONLY a gifted comedic actor, but also a VERY DRAMATIC one. It is a shame that his life was cut short before he could develop this characteristic trait. 5 STARS once again to this Abbott & Costello classic.
