Trained in a few days
I was desperate to contain my dog but couldn't spend a lot on an inground fence. I read all of the reviews for this product and purchased at a Home store. I was Very Very happy with the ease of set up and training. It took me awhile to get the perimeter just right. As it is a circle, I do have spots where it goes into my neighbors yard. Training was easy. I followed the instructions and trained her on a leash. I let her go, closed my eyes, and hoped for the best. She ran to the front porch when ever she got shocked. It didn't take long for her to get it! I also trained my moms dog too. My mom's dog comes over for weeks at a time and we just purcased an additional collar for her. She is a lab and a little harder to train (I had to put her level of shock up a few notches)She cried when she got shocked the first time and kept going deeper into the shock zone. I had to spend more time with her then my dog, but she too figured it out quickly. She ran for the porch as well when the beeping started. My dog rarely wears her collar anymore and will not leave the yard. If she does we just put it on her for a few days as a reminder. The battery life is short, I buy extras. I take the unit with me to friends. Chloe runs in the yard, and then runs for the house, or to me, when she hears the beeping. A Great Product! Now to take care of that barking!

Excellent
I'm very impressed with this product. We have a new puppy and wanted to make sure she stayed safe. This keeps her contained in the yard without having to dig a trench in the yard. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a dog.

Don't let dog wear in the house!
This is a great product. We've used it for a few years. Our 62# dog quickly learned the boundary line. The only problem we've had is false "corrections" inside the house. Any large metal object that blocks the signal can trigger it. We noticed it with the fridge and our brass bed. When I called tech support, they told me not to let the dog wear it in the house - very helpful......
So, if not for this, I would give more stars. Even with this limitation, it was worth every dime and then some. Because we've had it so long, the dog seldom needs the collar to stay within his boundary.

Exactly what we wanted
This wireless system was just what we wanted. We've been using it for just about three years, and it is working wonderfully. It annoys me that the company has specialized and sometimes expensive batteries, but you can find them on line at a discount.
I am sorry to hear that some are having problems with or don't like the unit. Our Golden Retriever (Blondi) was a pleasure to train, and the sessions were complete within about a week. I still test the perimeter once or twice a year, and it's kind of funny to see her jump back when the warning beep sounds with the collar in my hand. She is on the 3/6 setting. I tested it on my hand at that setting, and it does give you a nice zap!
If you are just starting, don't neglect to use the training flags, as they help both you and the pet.
Overall as I mentioned, we are very happy with it, and it was much cheaper than paying to get the wires buried. Our one an only estimate for that was > $1500.
