4 stars Excessive vocalization seemingly resolved!
We were having vocalization problems with our cat that began mysteriously and about four months into the problem, we had had just about enough. It was time for a trip to the vet.

We live in a moderately sized apartment and the cat would sleep normally throughout the day and night but durning his waking hours, he seemed obsessed by one thing: getting out of the apartment. He would sit by the door and meow (or shall I say "scream") nonstop. We felt guilty...we'd occasionally let him out to wander in the stairwell (which the neighbors did not really appreciate) and living on the 5th floor, he'd wander increasingly to the 1st floor exit of our building. We were concerned that he'd wander out of the building and when we did not let him outside, we were concerned that his incessant meowing would annoy the neighbors (it was certainly driving us crazy). He is neutered and we tried just about everything...we tried spraying him with water when the bad behavior began, we tried ignoring him, we tried playing with him and praising him when he was in a normal state, but the meowing continued...

I was very skeptical about this product when the Vet recommended it to us. Plus, in Europe, it is quite expensive. I am knocking on wood as I write this review but in about 3-4 days, we are seeing very positive results. The problem is not 100 percent resolved but I'd say that the vocalization has reduced by 90 percent. Now he'll meow a few times and stop. The cat seems more calm and he does not seem "drugged"...in fact, he seems more attentive and "present." He is interacting with us again and seems to be curious about his environment whereas before, he ignored everything and was determined by only one objective: sit by the door and meow like crazy. He is relaxed, he is happy, he is happy to be with us...we have our cat again!

5 stars Feliway is worth a try
Farnam Comfort Zone Feliway Electric Diffuser with 48-Milliliters Imitation Cat Pheromone
My mother had 2 psycho cats in her home, one of whom preferred to "defecate" just outside the catbox. There were urine stains in the carpet as well. One of the cats was afraid of people and would hide under the bed all day. The cats were alone in the house for much of 2 months (except for daily feeding) while my Mom was ill. Needing to move her and the cats out of the house was going to be very stressful to them (and me).

Since the shy boy was moving to my house, I needed to try ANYTHING to make the cat tolerate the move and become normal, or I would have to adopt the cat out or euthanize him. (I had never even been able to see the cat before) After learning of Feliway on the internet, I asked the vet who said it works for some and not for others.

THANKFULLY, I am ECSTATIC to report that the cat is a keeper. He does his business in the litter box, and while still shy around others, he seems starved for affection from people he knows! He's coming around and is out exploring his new world including my cat and dog. He's eating well now and gaining weight.

I attribute the change in part to Feliway, a sqeaky clean catbox and an initial bribe of fresh Ahi to get him out from under the bed.

Feliway is worth a try. I am ordering some for the other cat who hates my family and growls and hisses at us. Maybe that will be the true test! I am continuing to use the feliway and will report back after we return from a week's vacation when the cat will once again be people-less!

Here is a link to a miracle tool for removing pet hair from dogs and cats. I must spread the word to everyone, if you have a pet, you MUST buy this "brush"! (I use the 4 in. on the cats also, the small size is too small)

5 stars It works for my two cats! Yessss!
I love it! I bought this a month ago. My domestic shorthair had sometimes peed on the carpet immediately outside of the laundry area of my apartment, where the cat box resides. I plugged this gizmo in - and I also thoroughly treated the peed on spots, after locating them with a black light. She has not peed on the carpet since then.

Not only that. My Siamese has not thrown a major hissy fit since I got the diffuser. If you have a Siamese, then you know what a Siamese hissy fit is like, I'll bet. He is much calmer. He asks politely when he wants to go out on the patio. He doesn't have crying jags in the evening, when he wants me to go to bed and pet him. He sits calmly and stares at me instead. Amazing - truly amazing.

I see this doesn't work for everyone, based on the reviews, but it sure as heck works for my cats. They are happier. I am happier. Win win all the way.

One suggestion - I highly recommend locating the spots with a black light and then treating them with a solution that will neutralize the pee and remove the smell completely. This, I think, will increase your likelihood of success.

I just bought two refills.

1 stars Not Effective
After my husband moved in with me, one of my cats got very jealous, and began acting up. It only got worse when I got pregnant.

I bought the Feliway.. hoping it would help ease the tension, but after four months, not much has changed.

I would think twice about purchasing.

1 stars Not effective at all
I tried everything to stop a newly adopted 2 year old cat from peeing on the floor. I used 2 Feliway diffusers, the spray and even meds from the vet. In desperation, and on the verge of bringing the cat to a shelter, I tried Cat Attract Kitty Litter. Save your money, try the Cat Attract litter first!
