The product works pretty well. The drawback is that the pet containment area is smaller that what we anticipated.

Safe dog, no digging....couldn't be happier!!
I was a little unsure about purchasing this product based on all the reviews I had read. Some were great and some were terrible!! Also I have a slope in the front and back of my property. ( the back is quite steep)
However, I am so pleased I bought this. I can see though why some people are getting poor results. You have to be very patient with your pet and give him enough time to learn his boundaries. After a few days, I set the collar to sound only which she reacted to in the same way as the correction mode. Although my dog had learned within less than a week, she still 'ran through' a few times and we went back to basic training again. I think that is the key. Not to assume the training is over just because the manual provided with the product says it should be. Every animal is different and each set of circumstances is unique - distractions, temperament of animal, person doing the training etc. Stay with it and it does work!!. Word of warning - My dog had started to get so exited when she saw her collar (I remove it every time she comes in the house for comfort reasons) but the other day, I think I must have pinched her skin or pulled her hair because she yelped wghen I put it on. After that she wasn't as happy to put on the collar. She is fine again now though with positive re-inforcement and me being more careful!!
I just purchased a second unit to increase the covered area. Again....I love it!!

I think it's great to contain your dog. Gives the dog a lot more room to roam unattended.

It works for us!
We opted to buy this fence over the in-ground due to the fact the ground was frozen and we want to move but needed to keep the puppies off the thin ice. This seemed to be the best option. The system is a good one for us and once I figured out the weaknesses of the fence, I was able to compensate for them.

The first weakness is that the boundary seems to vary. After taking a good look at the manual, this makes sense, they give you a range at each level, the signal flucuates in this range. I set my flags at the shortest number with in that range while making sure the high side does not put the pups in danger.

The second issue I have with the system is where the transmitter goes, it cannot be out in cold weather and thus cannot be in an unheated garage. My solution is to have the transmitter in the garage during the summer months when they will be outside longer and move the transmitter inside during the cold months when we will not be using as much of the yard.

THUNDERSTORMS! MAKE THE COLLAR GO OFF!!! IF YOU HAVE WEATHER IN THE AREA TAKE OFF THE COLLAR!

I do not keep the collars on my dogs full time, only when they are going out or when there is a chance they will sneak out (lot of in and outs by kids).

The system was easy to set up, but finding the boundary zone took about 2 hours and I used up one battery. All in all I am very happy with this fence and hope the house sells soon so we can take it with us.

Great for Dogs
This works wonderfully. Our dog needed very little training with it and she never goes outside of the boundry's anymore. We feel much better about her safety now. Highly recommended.
