Save your money. The horror stories with this product are NOT exagerated!
This is a beta release at best. This is the crime of theft at worst. I have the boxed version acrobat 9 pro. I have three days of every permutation while trying to install and stabilize this "beta" software.
If you do not heed the warning as I did not. Plan to spend days if not weeks in particular opt for Adobe "support". In short I can not be negative enough about this product and the Adobe company.


3 stars Allows upgrade from 6.0+ Std or Pro, allows extra laptop install
According to Adobe's website, Acrobat 9 Pro Upgrade allows upgrade from either "Acrobat 6.x, 7.x or 8.x Standard" or "Acrobat 6.x, 7.x or 8.x Professional".

The license allows an additional install on a laptop or home computer, provided you don't use that copy at the same time as the main install. From the license: "... the primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed ('Primary User') may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided that the Software on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer ..."

The product requires activation, which includes sending license information to Adobe.

According to Adobe's website, it is OK to move the software between computers you own, but you need to manually deactivate the software on the old computer before the move. You can launch deactivation using the Help/Deactivate menu item. (On my system this menu item does not show up immediately when I launch Acrobat, but it does appear after Acrobat has been running for about 30 seconds.)
