Product Description: With a stunning win in the 2002 Tour de France, Armstrong becomes the fourth cyclist ever to have won four consecutive tours! This newest chapter in cycling history unfolds in a Tour marked with stunning break-aways, brilliant attacks, and an extraordinary effort by Postal, which many observers now calling one of the best teams in the last 50 years! A win in the prologue time trial signals Lance's plans to win, but then a wild first week ensues. When Armstrong loses the Stage 9 time trial to Kelme's Botero, many believe that Lance has slipped. But Armstrong answers back on the first day in the Pyrennes. Roberto Heras single-handily devastates the field with a powerful pace on the climb to LaMongie, and then it is Lance, Heras and ONCE'S Beloki near the summit when Armstrong jumps clear for a stage win and a lead he will never relinquish. Lance wins the next stage too but not before swashbuckling star Laurent Jalabert launches a stunning breakaway. "Ja-Ja" fails to win, but he keeps attacking on Stages 16 and 17. ONCE battles to find a chink in the Postal armor, but the boys in blue dominant the race to the end in what Lance calls, "the year of the team." Lance puts his cap on the race with a convincing victory in the final time trial. In the end it's Armstrong, ONCE'S Beloki, and Lampre's Rumas on the podium. With commentary and analysis from Phil Liggett, Paul Sherwin, and Gary Imlach, the 2002 Tour de France is an instant WCP classic!

Customer Reviews

4 stars A solid video with no extras
This World Cycling Production is good review of the 2002 tour.
The narration by Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen is professional and the odd spots by Gary Imlach are always fun and informative. Each stage is given own highlight with the major breaks displayed.

The production is less than stellar it views more like an ESPN highlight reel than well though out show. There are numerous picture break-ups and blips caused by broadcast foul-ups. For near $[amount] charged I expect a less slap-dash affair. Another annoyance is the total lack of DVD extras. The 2001 version had few extra highlights from previous Tours at the end, the 2002 version was conspicuously lacking. This a good video but a poor value.

WCP does put out a ten hour multi-DVD set of the 2002 Tour for the total fanatic.
