Product Description: For the golfer looking to dust off his or her clubs and kick off the golf season, How to Break 90 is a wise investment of 35 minutes. Some might be turned off by the old black-and-white footage, and Jones isn't the most charismatic of speakers, but the lessons he preaches are the timeless fundamentals around which every golfer should build a game. Not all great golfers are good teachers, but Bobby Jones explains the rudiments in clear, concise terms in this footage filmed in 1931 and 1932. Speaking in a slow, easy Southern drawl, dressed sharply in a white shirt and tie, the original golf prodigy covers basics such as grip, setup, backswing, downswing, and draws and fades in a classic style reminiscent of Ben Hogan's classic book Ben Hogan's Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf. This video contains Sybervision's usual slow-motion images of the golf swing set against a black background, impressing the image on the viewer's mind. Modern golfers playing with graphite shafts and exotic metal heads will notice that Jones had an unusually long backswing and active legs as he had a swing built around flexible wooden shafts common in his day. It is a beautiful swing, however, and most of the fundamentals are the same ones being taught today. For the amateur golfer and golf fan, this video is a rare treasure from the film archives of golf. Of the four Sybervision Bobby Jones tapes, How to Break 90 is the best tape to start with as it covers the basic swing fundamentals. --Eugene Wei

Customer Reviews
Bobby Jones was the greatest of all time.....
If you cant learn golf from these videos you shouldnt even attempt to play the game. Though the audio portion of these videos is a bit dated, (Jones speaks like hes reading from cue cards) the fundamentals are here. I have tried to emulate his swing but of course thats impossible, im not that flexible. The short game portion is excellent, very easy to understand, Jones explains as best he can how to execute certain shots, very good teaching aid. Recommended to all golfers who want to improve there game....I like the Cybervision part of the video, repeated swings of Jones from different angles, slow motion and at real time.... music is very eerie sounding..... He was the greatest, (Tiger wouldnt have stood a chance)

An oldie but goodie
The title of this video is should be "The Bobby Jones Swing Analysis". This video breaks down Jones's graceful swing in slow motion, grip, backswing, downswing, impact and follow thru. Bobby Jones's swing (in my opinon) is just as sound as those of any of 2002 top pro golfers. I've taken lessons, read golf books, watched golf instructional video's. From this video I was able to improve some facets of my game. I'm definitely a Jones's fan now.

May not be what you expect!
If you're like me and have seen these mini-movies featured on the Golf Channel, you may be disappointed by the fact that the story lines have been cut out of these tapes. The charm and humor evident in the original films is all but gone, save the low key and warm delivery of Jones. It's too bad the producers of the video versions chose to drop the very thing that made these films worth seeing. While some of the instruction is sound (even for today's modern game) without the actors and storylines intact, these videos offer nothing that isn't in any other run-of-the-mill golf instruction video on the market.

Excerpts...
Although not stated in the video descritption, this VHS is actually excerpts from the original Bobby Jones How to Break 90 "movies". This video excerpts the instructional portion of these movies. This is valuable, since Bobby Jones is able to discuss the essence of the golf swing and convey these thoughts in a concise manner. While a bit of Bobby's swing was dictated by the equipment of the time, the basics still apply today. It is unfortunate hat the entire mvies weren't included, as they were very humourous and contained the major actors of the time.
