Product Description: Includes three great NOVA videos about Mt. Everest: Everest: The Death Zone; Everest: The Mystery of Mallory and Irvine, and Lost on Everest.

Everest: The Death Zone: In the wake of the 1996 Everest disaster that took eight climbers in a single day, NOVA scientists follow a team of hikers to measure, for the first time ever, the toll high-altitude climbing takes on the heart, lungs, blood and brain.

The Mystery of Mallory and Irvine: Did George Mallory reach the top of Mt. Everest in 1924, nearly 30 years before Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay? Through rare footage and on-the-scene accounts explore the extraordinary efforts of these pioneering gentlemen adventurers and the enduring mystery of their disappearance.

Lost on Everest: Take part in this history-making high-altitude search and see how the May 1999 discovery of mountain-climbing pioneer George Mallory's body and belongings on Mt. Everest gives new clues to those who claim he conquered Everest 30 years before Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.

5 stars Everest at its Best
For the armchair enthusiast these videos are a must. The cinematography is excellent considering the extreme toil involved in obtaining the shots. There are excellent shots of the Khumbu ice falls as well as many other major features in the Everest experience. The filmmakers couldn't have a better cast for "The Death Zone". The contrast in the climbers' natural ability and experience is key in helping those of us who are not climbers sense the danger, excitement, and pain of the Everest experience. I highly recommend them both.
