Product Description: Classes on video as seen on NBC's TODAY Show and CNN's Headline News. Want to swim? Afraid to? Believe it or not, you can. Whether or not you have taken swimming lessons before, there's nothing that can stop you from freedom in the water if you start from the beginning and skip no steps. If you're afraid in deep water, you haven't experienced these steps yet.

What is swimming? It's confidence in water. It's not just strokes. Once a person can swim (be confident in water), then he or she can learn strokes easily. Afraid students typically don't learn to swim because they are focused on survival. You can turn that around.

You must be in control to learn to swim. The nuts and bolts of being in control in the water is the key to learning to swim that has freed our 2200 students at Transpersonal Swimming Institute since 1983.

The nuts and bolts are uniquely depicted in this videotape. Watch two unrehearsed classes of afraid students learning the same way you would if you were in class.

Once you're in control, you can learn mechanics. (Strokes are not part of this tape.) This is the answer to reaching your swimming goals. First things first. It cannot and does not fail. View a method that contains information not available elsewhere. The tape teaches the knowledge you need BEFORE learning strokes.

1 stars Disappointed
I feel I missed something in addition to fifty dollars. I am a new swimmer with fears of the deep end. While the instructor's guidance on staying in your body is good and well taken, the rest of the video does nothing for someone who needs to overcome a fear of deep water. Had I been aware of the lack of content in this product I never would have spent the money. When it was over I could not believe it! I literally just stared at my computer screen in disbelief. What a pity. Wish I had my $$$ back. Oh well.

5 stars Helpful thoughts to put into practice
The tape addressed issues that no one has ever tried to address with me during swim lessons. I've tried for over 30 years to learn to swim but have never lost my fear of the water. I actually tried to float on my back in the shallow end (1-1/2 feet) of the pool on our vacation. I've NEVER floated on my back before but I did after watching this tape. I still have a long way to go - practicing what was mentioned on the tape. I found it very inspiring, like a light bulb finally turned on.

4 stars This was the key for me
What I particularly liked in the video:
-the description of the levels of fear: very clear
-the examples of students going out of their body and then back in: really helped me understand what the goal was
-the description of how people float (not necessarily horizontal): this allowed me to just be natural in the water rather than trying to use other's techniques
-Melon's direction"like laying down on a pillow": before, I did not know how to get into the back float position

Before video:
I was comfortable floating on my front in the shallow end of the pool. I was terrified of floating on my back, even with my husband standing next to me with his hands under me. When on my back, I would become dizzy and found the listing sensation terrifying.

After video:
I started floating on my back by the stairs, holding on with my hands. Within a few minutes I was able to let go and float on my back without panicking. I was then able to move away from the stairs and float on my back. It was so relaxing and enjoyable, I did not want to stop!

5 stars It works!
Wooooo Huuuuuuu!
I finally got it after practising the floating for a few weeks!
Now I can swim over the deep water of the swimming pool with no fear, even though I can breast stroke for only 20 feet.
I have been trying to learn swimming since I was 20. After 13 years, I succeeded thanks to this miracle video. Now I need to improve the mechanics to swim further :-) ......

5 stars A MIRACLE
The Miracle Swimmer was instrumental in helping me to overcome a lifelong fear of water. Prior to viewing the video, I felt panic in knee deep water. In just one week after viewing this video several times, I made significant progress. I became comfortable in neck deep water. I was able to put my face in, glide, float front and back, practice strokes amd techniques front and back, totally without fear. It was so simple. Once I internalized that "the water will hold me up" and "only try what I am ready to try" the miracle unfolded.

My former attempts to learn to swim all ended in failure. But thanks to "The Miracle Swimmer", now I am a competent swimmer.

The "Miracle Swimmer" method should be mandatory training for all swim instructors. This would enable them to spot a student who is afraid and needs to begin with the miracle method rather than the mechanics. It must be difficult for instructors who have never experienced the fear to understand the impact it has on learning.
