Product Description: Based on the best-selling novel by award-winning writer, Minette Walters. The Ice House is an enthralling, tangled web of secrets and murder.

When the gardener informs the ladies of the house, Phoebe Maybury (Penny Downie) and her two friends, that he has found a dead body in the ice house, Chief Inspector Walsh (Corin Redgrave) and Sergeant McLoughlin (Daniel Craig) are called to the scene. Walsh is excited because ten years ago he led an investigation into the disappearance of Phoebe's husband at this house, but the body was never found. He suspects that they've finally found their missing man and that Phoebe is the murderess. But the investigation takes some twists and turns, and Sergeant McLoughlin finds himself increasingly attracted to one of the suspects. Will the mystery behind the disappearance of Phoebe Maybury's husband be solved at last?

5 stars Why Isn't Daniel Craig Headlined?
I've been re-watching my own wobbly videotape of this two-parter for years. It occured to me to check Amazon...and here it is! Oddly though, I find the names of the three female stars listed to promote the movie but no mention of Daniel Craig. Would-be buyers might be interested in seeing 007 before his was a big name on the marquee.

5 stars Great British Mystery starring before-Bond Daniel Craig
I first saw this on "Mystery", like so many others, and thought it was an outstandingly good mystery with interesting character development among the leading figures and a considerable amount of humor. Daniel Craig, in an early lead role, played the young police subordinate who is struggling with a few demons of his own and then becomes attracted to one of the suspects in the case. The acting, by an experienced British cast, is uniformly excellent and the plot is satisfyingly intriguing with a lot of twists and turns. The women who inhabit the main house on the property where the ice house is also located are a complex and fascinating group and their interaction with the police is the central core of this top-notch mystery. This mystery is so good, in fact, that when I bought the video I was sure that the DVD would not be far behind. Alas, it has not been so and I, like so many others, would like to know why. What is holding up putting this great story out on DVD (with the new James Bond starring, no less) when so much less worthy material is available in that format?

4 stars the Ice House
Nice early role for Daniel Craig, the new James Bond. All the characters are well portrayed.

5 stars Excellent video
I had read the book and the video followed the story very well.Minette Walters is a great mystery writer.

5 stars Great movie from a great book
This is the first movie I have seen that motivated me to read the book. Usually I am disappointed in the differences between book and movie (ie. Harry Potter) and this was the exception to the rule. I loved the subtle changes that the charaters went through during the course of the story, which made the charaters more beleivable people. I purchased the movie after seeing it on PBS then bought the book and read it several times before buying the audio book on cassette. I have the audio CD on order and I will continue looking for this movie until I can find it on DVD.
