5 stars If you are a TCM student or practioner this book is a must have.
Let me start off by saying that I am new in my studies into Chinese Medicine and that over the past 2 years I have read most of the basics text on TCM. I wanted to read one of the classics, and the first book I decided to read was The Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor, translated by Veith. It was good read, with info that other translations don't have, but it required quite a lot of work to tie the terminology and concepts back to Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Enter Dr. Zhu Ming's translation of the Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor, in comparision it was abosultey fantastic. It was easy to read, all the concepts were very easy to tie back to concepts and terminology found in Traditinal Chinese Medicine. The Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor is a combinaiton of essays, and each essay in Zhu Mings translation was clearly numbered and seperated making it easier to assimilate the information and concepts. What made the translation even better were the lucid commentaries and and annotations that were provided after every article. I agree with the first reviewers thoughts that it would have been great if the author had the original chinese text preceding each translation, but I guess that is what second editions are for.

Dr. Zhu has placed a classic that could only originally be enjoyed by sinologist, within the reach of english speaking, reading TCM students and practioners. Not perfect but in my humble opinion his work is definitely deserving of 5 stars. I highly reccommend this as an addition to your library on Chinese Medicine, it is worth 3X the price! Not sure if Dr. Zhu Ming ever reads the reviews, but just in case - Thank You very much Dr. Zhu, I hope that you will pursue the translation of other classics!

I am still trying to decide if I should buy this version. Unfortunately with all my researching I still haven't found a version which presents the full modern Chinese text side-by-side with an English translation. This version, from what I've read, uses a verbatim-English translation method, but does not include the original text, making it impossible to do one's own translation and check for possible mistakes or multiple meanings. However the translator is a TCM doctor and he translates from the official version by Cheng Shide which is the standard in China.

Here is the URL of another website which includes a complete TOC and the translator's preface.
