Great Tasting Water
My Fridge of 2 years uses this PureSource2 filter and I must say that I am impressed with the taste of the water and the ability to trap impurities in the water itself. When it came time to replace the filter, I wanted to go with the genuine Frigidaire brand rather than chance an inferior imitation. When I removed the old filter ( which is very easy ) I was shocked to see all the 'stuff' it had trapped that I would have otherwise drank. The side panel on the box reads:
*Reduces Cysts by 99.99%
*Reduces Particulates by 99.10%
*Reduces Turbidity by 97.80%
*Reduces Aesthetic Chlorine by 97.40%
*Reduces Lead by 99.30%
*Reduces Mercury by 96.60%
*Reduces Herbicides 2, 4-D by 99.90%, Alachlor by 97.30%, and Atrazine by 94.60%

The rated capacity is 6-9 months, or 400 gallons - whichever comes first to enjoy optimal performance. However, I use them much longer mostly in an effort to save a few bucks. As the particles build up over time in the filter, the water output will begin to come out slower from the Fridge water tap - This is a good indication for me that it's time to replace the filter. There are little labels that are supplied with the filter so you know when to change it if you don't happen to have a filter status light on your Fridge model.. My label says I was supposed to change it in June and it's now September and I can see that the water is coming out much slower. Impatient to stand there for 10 seconds to fill a glass of water I finally replaced it today.

Good Filter
Does what it is supposed to do, company recommends changing out every 3 months, i go by the filter monitoring system embedded in my fridge wich usally last about a year , but that might be due to the quality of water from Baton Rouge,
