Avg Customer Rating:
Product Description: The Black & Decker 24-volt cordless mulching mower gives you the power to mow or mulch your lawn without the mess, noise, smell and hassle of a gas-powered mower or the limitations of a cord. Using a 24-volt sealed lead acid battery, this mower has enough power to mow up to a 1/3-acre lawn on one charge (grass conditions will affect run-time). It can be operated as a mower by attaching a bag to catch the clippings, or it can be operated as an effective mulcher using a mulch plate; both the bag and the mulch plate are included. The rechargeable 24-volt battery conveniently regains up to 60-70 percent of its full power in only 4 hours, and up to 100 percent in 16 hours; the mower turns on quickly with just a switch. All four wheels can easily be adjusted with a one-touch lever to shift the blade height from 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches; the push handle folds down when not in use for more compact storage. This product comes fully assembled, is backed by a full 2-year warranty, and the 19-inch, tough polymer cutting deck has a lifetime warranty.

Good mower
I've had this mower for 2 months now. Works great.
No assembly required when opening it. Easy to charge and start.
Cut pretty good, though does at times have trouble cutting on lower setting in areas where there is not too much grass. But when it is fully charged, it does a good job of cutting, even thick high grass that I hadn't cut in 1 month was no problem.
Would recommend this highly. Plus, after i'm done, I clean off the mower and recharge it for its next use. No worries about gas, oil, or any other maintainence.

Great product
Nice mower, better than average, Not recommended for big lawn. Got it new, put it on charger for 2 days. Mowed about 1500 - 2000 sqf then went to front yard, felt battery was getting weak. Unit was advertized to mow up to a 1/3-acre lawn on one charge assuming good grass conditions. Grass was a little wet but 1/3 acre is over 10000 sqf. Second battery unit recommended !!!!!!!!

Can get the simple job done
After reading many reviews I purchased the 24V Black & Decker cordless mower. It works well, but it is not a workhorse. If I am doing nothing but routine cutting of my lawn, I can squeeze in the whole 0.4 acre lawn in 1 run. If I change settings or the grass grows more than 'routine trimmings worth', then it is 2-3 runs. For me, that is not a big deal. I enjoy the cordless, gasless aspect of it and wouldn't trade back. It is very easy to operate and does work well when the battery isn't drained. Any larger of a lawn though and the costs of recharging (extra day pretty much as 9 hours is a long time to recharge) would unfortunately negate the benefits.
Good luck!

Great environment friendly mower!
Just got my mower and charged it and used it. Before I review, here is a tip for removing the heavy mower from the box single handedly since many have complained here about getting it out of the box without destroying the box.
Lay the box flat and open the top. Remove all loose items (manual, keys, grass catcher bag, charger, and packing cardboards).
Next prop up the box from the front end of the mower and let the box stand vertically with the rear wheels on the bottom.
Slowly roll out the mower on its rear wheels. (Do not grab the handle as it is very loose!). It is highly advisable to prop the back of the box to a wall or bench so when you roll out the mower it doesn't fall flat. It is very likely that the mower front wheels will start sliding downwards very rapidly in the box and suddenly the mower will be flat! So apply some muscle to reduce the rate of falling! Once it is flat it is a simple matter to roll it out backwards.
Keys:
Several of you had complained of the start key breaking and then taking a long time to get a replacement. Well B&D have listened to your complaints! My mower came with a spare key, in case I break or loose one! To prevent the loss of key in a toll grass (as one complained here) it is a simple matter to loop the key-string around the handle bar next to the key hole! So it will be always there when you need it.
Charger:
Comes with two tiny LED lights - red for "it is charging" and green for "it has charged it sufficiently". While on red, the charger gets quite hot! So make sure it has enough air circulation. Charger has no hook or hole, to hang it on a wall! B&D should have provided some tab, hook, hole on the charger to hang it on a wall next to the outlet. Remember, this charger is going to remain plugged in day and night 24 hours a day!
Height adjustment:
Works great with a single lever. The highest height is still lower than my two old lawnmowers! I cut my grass high to prevent weeds and cut down on watering. So this is a minor quibble - I wish it could go another half inch higher.
Mowing:
I only use mulch for many years! So this is about mulching mower.
Positive: Does great in even heavy toll dense grass. Does best when your mower moves in a straight line on level ground.
Negative: Does not do well near a hard border. It leaves grass next to the border uncut! This is due to lack of strong suction to draw the grass in the mower body. I suspect, if you lower the mower height considerably it would catch some of these grass but at the cost of cutting the lawn too low! The same poor performance occurs on uneven ground, e.g. near a tree trunk over roots. This is also due to lack of strong vacuuming in this mower. Here also one can lower the cutting height considerably but at the cost of possibly hitting a bump or a root.
Overall: In spite of the above mentioned negatives, it is a great mower. I would recommend to anyone who has any one of the following attributes.
(a)Wants to help the environment.
(b)Tired of pulling starter cord on gas mowers.
(c)Tired of smelling like burned oil smoke after you are done.
(d)Tired of wearing noise reduction headphones in hot muggy weather.
(e)Tired of changing oil and cleaning greasy air filter every season.
(d)Wants to look cool in the neighborhood!

Great Mower!
I could not wait for my old gas mower to die, and it finally did! I replaced my 5.0 hp walk behind push mower with this. It is great no more pulling the cord, messing with gas, oil frustrations, fumes carbon monoxide giving my money to the Saudis! I have about 1/3 of an acer to mow and this does the job with no problem, to me it feels lighter and easier to push that my old gas mower and is diffidently cleaner!
I ordered my mower from Amazon with the free super saver shipping (5-9 days) but it was at my front door in 4. I would recommend this mower to everyone with under a 1/3 of an acer.
