Product Description: The rules are brutal, but the rewards are worth it in this card game that works a bit like Scrabble. Although there is a solitary version of the game for one player, you can play with up to eight. Cards containing letters of the alphabet and special combinations of letters are dealt in increasing number each time the dealer completes a round. Once you've collected your share, you can discard and pick up a new card with each turn. The object is to turn all the letters in your possession into dictionary-proof words while leaving one stray card as a final discard. You want to be the first to accomplish the goal, of course, but there is a scoring system that makes the play competitive for everyone. One nice element is the cards themselves: the letter design is based on beautiful artwork from Celtic manuscripts. This card game is a 1999 Parents' Choice Silver Award winner. --Tom Keogh

Customer Reviews
a fun cross between Gin and Scrabble
This is a fun game. The rules are similar to Gin -- get each card in your hand into a straight before your opponent does and you win. But instead of suits and numbers each card has a letter or pair of letters, and the goal is to make words. The first hand is 3 cards, the second hand is 4 cards, etc...on up to 13 cards.
I like this game because unlike Scrabble, the person with the amazing vocabulary doesn't always win, because several short words are just as effective in using up your cards as one long word. (In fact, you get a 10 point bonus for either longest word OR most words). So my 8 year olds aren't outgunned by their word-loving elders.
As a nice plus, the art work on the cards themselves is well done.
The only minus is that the deck is double sized (110 cards) and so shuffling is a bear. Would also have been nice if they included a container that held the whole deck (instead it comes with a tray that has slots for 2 half decks.)

Very Fun Game!!!
My friend introduced me to this game while on a women's retreat. We had so much fun that as soon as I got home, I went to Amazon to find it. My husband and son enjoy playing it with me. Even our 6 year old daughter plays (with a little help from her mom). I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes Scrabble or other word games. It's a good way to build your child's vocabulary. Even better, there are no little pieces to lose--it's just cards!

Boggle, Scrabble, and a little bit more.
For those who enjoy stretching their verbal abilities a little bit and doing puzzles, Quiddler is a great addition to the games closet. It is a quick learn, easy to play, and more accessible and portable than most other word games. Easy enough for children, clever enough for adults.

Family Fun
I was introduced to this game by my daughter and son-in-law. After playing at their home, I had to purchase it for my own use. It is a fun, fast paced word game that helps to build vocabulary and spelling skills.
