Customer Reviews

1 stars I was done with it in 2 hours - sucked
I see from the other reviewers that many of you really like this gun, but I just absolutely cannot agree. Summary - the concept is cool, but the execution SUCKS due to dart problems.

On first look it passed the eye test, and the idea of having clips sounded really cool. (If the designers could've found a way to put the pump loading action on the bottom of the barrel vs. on the top of the main body of the gun, that would've been awesome, but that wasn't that big of a deal).

However, I found that all of the accessories, (the stock, the laser light, sites, etc.) weren't all that great in use. The gun's extended barrel decreases the accuracy and muzzle velocity of the darts, and without the barrel, the other accessories - the light, stock and sites - were also worthless. In the end, it ended up being a pistol with a clip.

I could've lived with all of that, but then the deal killer came up - the dart jams. Taking the barrel off helped with this at first, but after about an hour of playing with the gun, I was constantly having to take jammed darts out of the main body. Total buzz kill...

To make matters worse, the specialized "Streamline" darts you need with this gun are 1) not as easy to find as an accessory, and 2) more fragile then the suction cup darts you see for other guns. If the dart isn't in near pristine condition, it is practically worthless because it was more likely than not to jam. Also, because the gun comes with only 6 darts (to fill your clip), the fun ends pretty quickly if you didn't have the foresight to buy extra darts (forget trying to use suction-cup tipped darts - they don't work).

Summary - Do NOT buy this gun. You will be sorry. There are absolutely better choices out there. If you choose to ignore this review and buy one anyways, at least buy a TON of extra Streamline darts (no other darts with work with it) - you're going to need them if you want to use this gun for more than an hour or two.

2 stars Poorly built blaster
Many people love this gun, but I don't. I think that the quality of this product is mediocre and the quality is something that I would expect from rival companies that use cheap plastic.

I'll list the pro's and con's of the product.

First the pro's.

The blaster uses the same six shot clips as the Nerf Longshot.
You can "customize" the blaster by putting various additions onto the
tactical rails.

Now the con's

The gun jams much more often than the Nerf Longshot. I have never experienced a jam with the Longshot, but I have had several jams with the Nerf Recon.
The extension barrel decreases the range and velocity of the darts, but if you do not put on the extension barrel then you only have one tactical rail to put accessories on.
The stock is flimsy and easily breaks.
The Recon only comes with one clip.
The flip-up sight is useless.
The range is mediocre and is worse than most Nerf products even though it costs more.
This product is very overpriced when compared to the longshot.

Those are the most major con's although I could list many, many more.

The plastic is not durable and many parts break easily. so I give durability two stars.

The blaster is not fun when it jams almost one in two shots in the middle of a Nerf war/battle.

It is only educational if you mod it which breaks the bolt and many important parts. I do not recommend modding it and I am not responsible for you breaking your own blaster.

I am a very big Nerf fan, but this blaster does not live up to the great quality and expectations of any Nerf gun. The reason I choose Nerf over other competitive companies is the quality of Nerf. This quality is not present in the Nerf Recon.

I do not recommend getting this blaster. The Nerf Longshot is more durable, fires darts farther and more accurately, and is better priced. Don not get this, get the longshot. You will not be satisfied with this product

5 stars Fun Gun
This gun was bought for my little brother for his B-Day and he loved it. It looks nice and very fun to play with. Shoots far and strong. Great gun to play with

5 stars nerf recon cs6
SO ASOWME. i love putting the laser on the longshot to increse its acurccy. the flip up sight is bad. i love sneaking up on my friends. i highly reccmond.

4 stars how to get the most out of this gun
This N-strike Blaster shoots pritty well if I remove the baral. I striped it down so that all I am using is the but plate and the triger mecanisum. If I use the baral the darts do go as far. by removing the baral I have lost the use of the sights. Not that I could have hit the target given the loss of range.
