Product Description: This lightweight World War II comedy is an amiable wade through the South Pacific buoyed largely by Cary Grant's effortless leadership as the commander of a crippled submarine and by Tony Curtis's blue-eyed wiles as his street-hustler of a supply officer. The crew dodges the enemy in a barely seaworthy vessel held together with chewing gum and baling wire (and, in one instance, a woman's girdle!) and painted a blushing bright pink. The close quarters get even tighter when the sub takes on five young army nurses, a couple of Filipino families, and a goat. Though it has little of the zany knockabout humor that marks later Blake Edwards hits like The Pink Panther and 10 and it almost wears out its premise at two hours, this easy-sailing comedy rolls along the gentle wakes from one fine mess to another with good humor and a bevy of coy close-quarters sex gags. --Sean Axmaker

5 stars One Great Line Among Many
One of the very funny lines comes from an officer watching through binoculars as Nick Holden brings a boat load of nurses back to the sub from a bombed island: "Wow -- now that's what I call scavenging!" The officer is played by Dick Sargent, the second Darin on "Bewitched."

Matt Sherman comments that he's a little concerned about Lt. Holden's influence and recommends a little less "Wow" and a little more "Tsk Tsk."

5 stars Submarine war adventure with comedy
I always did love Cary Grant and Tony Curtis - put them together in this movie and you have a something to laugh about - crusing around the pacific ocean in war time - on board of all things a pink submarime and what they got up to in getting her ready just to keep her afloat - here to the Seatiger and all the crew who rode in her - or as some would say here to all submariners may they keep our oceans free and safe.

5 stars cary grant

4 stars Must see Clasic!
This is a must see for any Cary Grant fan. Five nurses on a sub labeled a pig boat , you have to see seeman Hornsbey to appreciate the humor in this line.
