Product Description: Subtitled The Musical World of Cameron Mackintosh, this video compilation is an unapologetic, self-produced valentine by and for Mackintosh, England's most omnipresent theatrical impresario. Conceived and taped as a royal gala for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the production sprints smartly across Mackintosh's long list of hit musicals and revivals including Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, and Oliver! with a huge principal cast, choruses and dancers, and full orchestra, introduced by Julie Andrews. While no substitute for any of the individual shows represented, Hey Mr. Producer! offers a fast-paced revue aimed at both casual theater fans and devotees of both New York's Broadway and London's West End.

The cast spotlights both American and English marquee talent, including both familiar musical troupers and dramatic actors who have proven themselves game, if untutored, singers. Jonathan Pryce (Brazil), who proved himself a latter-day Rex Harrison through 1980s stage hits, is perhaps the most ubiquitous, reprising his turns from Miss Saigon and in Harrison's signature musical role, Dr. Henry Higgins, from My Fair Lady (inevitably a set-up for Andrews's arrival onstage). Judi Dench (Mrs. Brown) provides one of the dramatic high points in a devastating reading of "Send in the Clowns," from Mackintosh's production of Side by Side by Sondheim. Sondheim himself pops up, as does one of his favorite leading ladies, Bernadette Peters, who basks, as always, in the spotlight and repays the adulation with several of the show's best moments. --Sam Sutherland

5 stars Hey Mr. Producer
Great video has alot of the best Broadway stars, starring in it. I oved the video, and if you get it you'll like it too.

5 stars Absolutely Wonderful Production!
I love this tape and am soooo glad i bought it!!! Gives me a glimpse into many musicals I've never seen and may never get to see.

5 stars Best Concert video of Broadway Shows (26 of them!)
This should be on DVD!! Great concert featuring the best talent seen on Broadway. I missed Michael Crawford as the Phantom but Colm Wilkenson was certainly extremely effective in the role. Michael Ball is my favorite and I didn't see enough of him but Jonathan Pryce was so wonderful to see as The Engineer in Miss Saigon and as Henry Higgins. This is a gem and highly recommended for a 5 star enjoyment. Buying the VHS for Christmas presents for my Broadway loving friends! Too good not to share the memories!!!

5 stars The year's top buy for lovers of musicals.
Featuring songs from some 27 hit musicals and top artists (actually over 250 performers in all) from both sides of the Atlantic, this is two & a half hours of solid entertainment. The DVD includes rare scenes, with cameo singing appearances by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim doing a duet, and arguably what is the best performance one can hear of "Send in the Clowns" sung by Dame Judy Dench.

It is hard to believe that this show had only two performances & the DVD is based on the second night's Royal Gala Performance in front of Queen Elizabeth. The cast and numbers are so numerous it is worth while downloading the programme from the net, in order to identify the singers and the show!

One can watch this multiple times and find something new on each occasion.

5 stars Greatest Musical Review Ever
This musical review, which is a tribute to Cameron MacKintosh, is one of the greatest collections of music and artists from the West End or Broadway.

I thoroughly enjoy it!
