Customer Reviews
Great fun for the entry level Jet Jockey
I bought this and it's companion "Wings Over Vietnam". I will review this in 3 parts: ease of setup, learning curve, and fun.
1) Ease of Setup: I use a very specialized setup, involving a flight stick & throttle, rudder pedals, track ball and 2 keyboards and a TrackIR unit (look into TrackIR unit - it'll make the sim come alive). Was it difficult to install & set up? Not at all - if my setup is easy, then it will be easy for anyone to install and configure.
2) Learning Curve: While this is a jet simulator, it's not entirely accurate. In this case, that's a boon: it's easy for a person who's never flown before to be able to handle the planes in relatively short order. Some sims take weeks to get a handle on-this one is geared towards gameplay rather than completist accuracy.
3) Fun: Is it fun? Yes. The graphics are decent, the sim is fairly robust, there are good number of missions and a variety of planes to fly. I've had friends who have had little interest in sims try it out, about 50% so far get hooked.
This is a good one, doesn't require a monster gaming rig to run (I'm using a 2004 Office Depot Compaq - it runs just fine), and is quick and easy to get into. The manual is a pdf on the CD.
Hardcore simmers might give it a miss - but for team play and new to the hobby simmers, this one is great.
