The Aftermath of WrestleMania XV.
Once again, thanks to finding some of my old video tapes, I was able to relive another event from the awesome Attitude era of wrestling. I remember the hard work that WWF needed to show at this event in order to make up for the disappointing WrestleMania XV event. Not only did this event top it but I thought it was the best one of 1999.
The Ministry(The Acolytes & Mideon) vs The Brood(Edge, Christian & Gangrel). The story surrounding this match was that Christian "dropped the ball" according to the Undertaker's orders, resulting in Edge & Gangrel to leave the Ministry as well to help Christian. This is good opener that features some solid inring work, mostly from E&C and the Acolytes.
Hardcore Champion Hardcore Holly vs Al Snow. This was the typical hardcore match that you would expect from the Attitude era in which these two went at it hard, fought backstage(eventually going to the parking lot), then returning to the ring to finish the match while leaving you entertained with some nice weapon use.
Intercontinental Champion The Godfather vs Goldust. This filler was just thrown together to give the fans some comedic moments. As for the match, it was quick and watchable considering that both men were decent here.
The New Age Outlaws vs Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart. Unfortunately, this was Owen's last PPV match. After a funny segment interview in the beginning, this was a good tag team match with a solid pace to follow. This match was scheduled to be for the tag titles but the match was changed to the winners get a shot at the titles on RAW (Kane & X-Pac won the titles a week before on RAW).
Boiler Room Brawl: Mankind vs The Big Show. These two made up for what was a dull match at WrestleMania XV in this brutal encounter. It did not top the previous Brawl(the one with Taker/Foley at SummerSlam 96) but it did feature some sick bumps including Foley getting chokeslammed through glass. A bloody battle that makes the previous hardcore match look pathetic in comparison.
Triple H vs X-Pac. At WrestleMania XV, Triple H turned his back on X-Pac & DX was broken up, now it was time to settle the score. This is an entertaining back and forth wrestling match with two athletes who were able to adapt to each other's style. Chyna interferes a lot but it was soon taken care of by Kane.
The Undertaker vs Ken Shamrock. To this day, I will not understand what the hell was wrong with this crowd? Or some of the reviews I have read about this match. I agree with one of the reviewers when he said that he thought this was almost a showstealer and it really was. Taker worked hard here to make fans forget about that Hell in a Cell failure at WM XV and Shamrock did not do bad either. Not on par with the Guerrero/Malenko series in ECW but a very solid and unappreciated technical wrestling match.
WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock w/Shane McMahon as the ref. The story surrounding this match was that The Rock had Austin's smoking skull belt and he wanted it back. Shane made the match No Holds Barred to raise the stakes. Anyways, this was the match that topped their classic at WrestleMania XV. These two went at it all over the arena and delivered some solid action in the ring. To me, the highlight of the match is when The Rock takes the headset from one of the Spanish announcers, then uses the camera to taunt Austin before being stunnered on the table. Even a special cameo from Vince McMahon that surprised people at the time. After the match, the Undertaker abducts Stephanie McMahon, which I thought was kinda funny.
Overall, a great event from the year 1999 and gave the WWF some fresh air after the previous WrestleMania did not live up to the hype. Definitely a lot of fun to watch here.

lets to a look back to one great match from backlash
the rock vs stone cold
oh man and woman what a match this was it started hardcore and ended hardcore both wrestlers worked and bumped their busts off but i slightly have to give it to the rock i feel that he took just a tad more punishment than stone cold did because stone chilli drove a wagon through the rock's head, the rock received a stunner on the announcer's table, was suplex and body slammed on the concrete ground, irish whipped into the backlash gate, closeline to the ground speaking of irish whipped you r instored for a lot of irish whipping which does not get tedious at any moment during the match because all the irish whips that was applied by both men are used in moderately unique ways there are alot of closelines in the matchup as well austin took his decent amount of bumps in the match in fact i think u took the most brutal bump when he was rockbottom by the rock on the spanish annoucne table even though stone cold took that one nasty bump and a couple of other brutal ones does not mean he took the most punishment as i said earlier i would have to say due to all the amount of spots the rock experienced i would have to give that honor to him the only thing i wish they would have done more in the match was used more traditional power moves in effective ways example the rock or austion could have did backdrops, powerbowb on the floor or on the chair i did not see the rock do his people's elbow at all it would have been nice the rock did his spinebuster to austin on the chair than do his people's elbow on that same chair overall a very good which can even be considered a great street fight match at **** to ****1/4 stars if both men who would have used more power and trademark moves i would have rated the match even higher than it is receiving this would have been match of the year if it was not for the hardys vs edge and christian ladder match six months later nonetheless an highly acceptable contest between two of the greatest wrestlers of our period
u know who dis is joe black better known as joe brown
