Xbox 360 is much smaller than its predecessor--it measures approximately 3.3 by 12.2 by 10.2 inches and weighs 7.7 lbs. It's powered by custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz. It also carries a custom ATI graphics processor loaded with 10 MB of embedded DRAM, 48-way parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines and Unified shader architecture. This is powerful enough to draw 500 million triangles per second. In other words, it makes for great looking games in standard TV definition, and even better thanks to built-in support for HDTV 1080i televisions. It also supports the widescreen 16:9 format. The unit has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, which plays both the game media and progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. For game-save and media storage, users can choose between the detachable and upgradeable 20GB hard drive, or a separately sold 64MB flash Memory Unit. Xbox 360 uses a refined button layout for its controllers. Back and Start buttons sit at the center of the controller and between them is a new Xbox Guide button, which instantly takes the user to the Xbox 360 user interface. From there, they can check for friends online, access personal digital content like photos and songs, and more. The black and white buttons of the first Xbox controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. 360 wasn't a smooth landing
Received package from Amazon. Opened and found headset was broken (snapped where the clamp meets the mic mount). Upon hooking up the Xbox 360, we found that component/HiDef output was not showing the right colors. Tested composite connection and colors were fine. Tried swapping the cable and found color output from component was still outputting funky colors (XBL games screen is light blue, etc.). Called MS and was told expect up to 4 weeks to repair it. This was tremendous news to my son who spent 6 months saving up for it. Thanks Microsoft, you shipped another dud.

Xbox 360
This console is awesome. IT is convenient to go online and download all the new game demos to see if I would actually like to buy them. I love the system link feature.

Waste of money
I've owned my Xbox 360 for over 2 years now. The problems that I've had with it is not worth the headache. It's on it's way to be repaired (again), last year this time I was hit with the 3 red rings. It took Microsoft about 2 months to repair my system and send it back to me. When I finally did recieve the system back it was refurbished. I paid for a new system and was given a rebuilt system in return. This time around the CD tray stopped working, in the middle of the game it started to make this squeeling noise. When I restarted the system the tray would not stay closed, when it did, the disk couldn't be read. I called xbox support and wouldn't you know my Warranty expired last month. It's convenient that my system was being repaired last year this time, now my refurbished xbox is being repaired again, except it's out of my pocket. All in all the Xbox 360 is a worthless piece of garbage, and I would never buy another xbox console as long as I live.

I love it!
I have waited a long time to buy a 360, the bad reviews have put me off, so I have waited until now to hopefully buy a product that wont do a "Mission Impossible" and self destruct in 5 seconds!
I have had the unit for 2 weeks now and I am very impressed. It is so much better than the original Xbox it has replaced. First time on Xbox live also, how much fun is that, my son and I have had a blast playing Halo3 with people from all over the globe, it has opened up an entire new part to gaming that for me hadn't previously existed, what a rush, I wish I had done it years ago!
My only real complaint is the noise from the DVD drive, when this baby spins up it's like a vacuum cleaner running beside you, unacceptable really in this day and age that MS hasn't addressed this well know issue before today, such a pity because it spoils what is a wonderfully interactive and modern gaming experience that IMO is second to none. Also, the price of accessories are exorbitant, otherwise, I love the game play and highly recommend it.

It would be good if it would'n break
The console is good while it works. After getting the 3 red lights and breaking for the second time with two different consoles in a bit longer than 1 year, I am buying a PS3.
Next time I suggest they make some research to make the videogame more reliable.
